I feel that the name of the book is sort of a bad Idea and will be seen as a negative by any Christian seeing that title. (My self being a christian and knowing the fallout calling someone a sorceress can cause.)
So it's going to be seen as negative by someone who already sees the game as a bad thing? Oh no!

Anyone, whatever their faith, with their head screwed on right will be just fine. WotC has thankfully not gone down TSR's road of pandering to people who aren't customers anyway.

A style guideline that I'm sure was created by Adkinson/Wotc to avoid sexism turning off female players. But, apparently, an actual woman likes to be called a "sorceress" in a game.

hmmm....
Women do not exist in a hive mind. One woman liking "sorceress" doesn't suggest that another won't prefer "sorcerer."

Oooooh, there are female players?

Sorry, had to be said.

Now I'll go back into the queue for barsoomcores hot stewardess guest seat.

Me either, but Google turns up several interesting pieces floating around the web. Sounds like she's got no gaming industry creds, but lots of freelance writing pieces. The two articles I read were pretty good -- hip, irreverent, funny. Sounds like she could be a welcome change of pace from the usual dorkisphere perspective. And now I know what to get the gal in my Monday night game for her birthday!

Could be a good outsider's view or it could just be that she is a regular gamer, WotC found out about it, and comissioned a lengthy piece from her. All in all, might be good.

I went ahead and rated it a 1, just in case.

Why?

Yeah, it couldn't be to avoid confusion about whether one was talking about the class or being used to refer to someone with general magical ability.

Oh, man, how I hate products that put their demographic checkboxes first. This is as retarded as BET and Spike TV.

I don't think anyone on earth considers the word "sorceress" a sexist term. I always figured the reason for the lack of gender-specific class titles was just simplicity. That, and the fact that the classes describe skill sets, not people.
