Its called mass hysteria. :)
Hey!! I resemble that statement! :)

Actually, there is a practical reason for me wanting them ASAP. I am getting together with my monthly group on the 19th and I would like to either have them that day or before that so I can start converting a 7th level specialist wizard to the new rules. Since we don't get to meet all that often it would be great to get the converting done ASAP so we can get back to playing. It's no big deal really.

Also, the group that I DM for is holding off on character generation until we get the new books. There are a few players that I'm sure will dig the changes to the classes and that may influence what they wish to play.

So in all cases I'd love to either get a jump on the reading or at least have the books in hand pretty soon so when time permits, I am ready to go. :)

got an email responce to my question concerning when my order would ship.

I looked into your order and see that "Dungeon Master's Guide: Core
Rulebook II (Dungeon & Dragons, Edition 3.5)" and "Player's Handbook:
Core Rulebook I (Dungeons & Dragons, Edition 3.5)," are in short
supply. We ordered these items from another supplier, and hope to
deliver them by July 14, 2003.

Unexpected supply changes can occasionally add time to your estimated
shipping date. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

so, I guess that answers that.

Here's my reply from Amazon

<QUOTE>Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

Our latest information indicates that "Monster Manual: Core Rulebook
III (Dungeons & Dragons, Edition 3.5)", "Dungeon Master's Guide: Core
Rulebook II (Dungeon & Dragons, Edition 3.5)", and "Player's
Handbook: Core Rulebook I (Dungeons & Dragons, Edition 3.5)" has not
yet been released and the expected release date is not known. As
soon as a release date has been determined for these items, we will
add that information to our web site.

While we are confident that copies will be made available, we cannot
provide more precise information about the fulfillment of the order.
In light of this uncertainty, we will understand if you would prefer
to cancel your order. As of yet we have made no changes.

You may cancel orders yourself on our web site. Simply click on the
"Your Account" link at the top of our home page and select the link
that says "Cancel items or orders." After signing in with your e-
mail address and password, you will be able to cancel your order for
any item that has not yet entered the shipping process.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

Hey all,

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you guys who switched your orders over to me! :D

I still have access to plenty of copies so there won't be any of the problems going on with Amazon.

Everything is good to go!

That's exactly what my email said. I feel good that I am not alone in this all of this. It's just so...craptacular.

Thank you! :D

Now that we're hearing about some of the Wal-mart orders shipping I will be on my distributor who will be on WotC as well as myself pushing HARD to have everything released early. *And* I will be shipping all of the books at the same time!

Like I said before, this is my number 1 priority this coming week.

Ya, I'm kinda aggrivated with Amazon right now, so I cancelled and placed an order with Wal-Mart.

Well, that's unfortunate but understandable. Ebay gives them a huge amount of business so it seems like good decision to do what they ask. Sorry to hear that you can't use it for something you enjoy. :(

AFAIK, Ebay bought (or merged with) paypal. I never complained when Ebay had the policy, but Paypal is just a money system, and different.

Ah well. Life Goes On :)
