American Dad sucked hard

Speaking of the Simpsons

During the Simpsons, did anyone else have a Gieco comercial in the middle of the episode. And no I don't mean during the regular comercial block, I mean during the episode as if someone didn't want the joke to be heard.

I, for one, really liked it. Funny, almost insightful, and they summarized Crime and Punishment. What more coul you want? The begining was a little slow, but by the first comercial break I was laughing, and I think it kept that up. Lots of good moments, and some good ol' Family Guy humor in a different setting. The obvious correlations to Family Guy characters did impare my fun a little, but it was still great.

However, based on what I've seen of other peoples opionions, it'll get cancelled before it's time. Kind of reminds me of when Family Guy and Futurama were on. I can't help but wonder if this'll be the same thing: passed over in it's time, but a fan favorite on DVD.

Hopefully it will be like the Family Guy, and get funnier.

IMHO, the original episode of Family Guy was painfully unfunny, except for one really great joke - the Kool-Aid Man crashing through the wall.
Agreed. American Dad has potential, especially if it gets its own life beyond being so close to Family Guy. Though the whole political jokes(on either side of the fence) may be a contributor to killing it.

I, for one, enjoying the Simpsons. :)

I didn't watch either as I had to get up too early for work this morning. I wasn't thrilled with the previews of American Dad. The Simpsons ep looked like it'd have been hilarious as heck..... but I didn't feel like staying up late to watch it. But I wouldn't have watched American Dad as it held no interest for me.

And I liked Futurama. FOX just loved to screw that one with 20-grit sandpaper the bad way by preempting it during football/baseball seasons.

Not that great. It was kind of funny, but I think 2/3rds of the jokes fell flat.

The alien didn't get interesting until the dog ... well, you'll know ... and even then they kept making that 7 hour joke. You'd think the alien would figure that out fast. However, I have a soft spot for aliens :)

The fish was really really stupid, and I hate the way they explained how he ended up with his brain in a fish. Why not just print it on the screen?

The nerdy son wasn't interesting, either.

I guess I only really liked Stan and the alien, which isn't enough. In the Family Guy I like Peter, Stewie and Brian - I guess 3 is the magic number. Even so, the first two "return of Family Guy" episodes were lame IMO.

I, too, wasn't exactly blown away by the premiere of American Dad (although a few parts did make me chuckle). I'll probably watch a few more episodes when they air to see if it gets funnier, though.

But as it currently stands, American Dad isn't anywhere close to being as funny as Family Guy.

Am I the only one here that liked the episode? I mean it could be better but it has potential. C'mon people...it's the first episode. I didn't like the first episode of Family Guy....but I love the show as a whole now. Give it some time.
