American Dad sucked hard

I thought it was pretty bad. Though, I also thought the episode of the Simpsons they ran was pretty bad too. Not a good night for animation at all.

Yeah. The Simpsons episode blew so bad, I turned off the teevee before it was over and completely forgot about the new 'toon. Looks like I didn't miss much.

Well, Brian is attracted to Louis, just like the fish, and while the alien doesn't want to kill the mom, he is effeminite.

That's LOIS, not Louis. An understandable typo, but one that make a big difference!

And Stewie's primary characteristic isn't being effeminate (which he is on occasion), but that he's evil and wants to kill Lois. That's what makes him Stewie.

Yeah, the cast may be analagous to Family Guy, but that doesn't really mean anything. You can say virtually the same thing about any family sitcom (i.e., patriarch, matriarch, etc.). Give them a chance to flesh out the characters a little.

I equate this to the new series by the guys who make Red vs Blue that uses The Sims 2, "The Strangerhood". I love RvB and have seen every episode of Strangerhood. But the first one wasn't funny and, so far, neither have any of the other 3. They've had time to flesh out characters and it's just not funny. Perhaps my expectations were to high.

American Dad had a lot of expectations from me because I love the Family Guy. But it just fell flat, be it lame jokes, recycled family dynamics or a combination thereof. I know that first episodes are not necessarily indicative of the rest of the series (for example Highlander the series had a HORRIBLE first episode but I loved the rest of the series) so I will watch it when it comes on but it's not on my "To Do" list on Tivo. :)

I liked it fine, and the voters on TV Tome gave last night's Simpsons a good rating (67 votes, averaging 7.58). Seeing LeBron James' pitiful victory dance (before Homer's help) and Michelle Kwan doing one was pretty funny. And later, in the artificial Ark, LeBron asks her if she has a BF, and she replies, "Not in here, I don't" was funny, too. But all that's not why this episode is destined for the Hall of Fame.

They gave Comic Book Guy a name!!!! Jeff Albertson.

Hopefully it will be like the Family Guy, and get funnier.

IMHO, the original episode of Family Guy was painfully unfunny, except for one really great joke - the Kool-Aid Man crashing through the wall.

<---Thinks Family Guy was probably the stupidest cartoon on primetime TV until just last Sunday. It's like the writers got together and tried to outsuck Family Guy with American Dad.

I want Family Guy not a bad imitation.

If people tell me it's getting better I may try watch again, but definitely not going to make a point to watch it anymore. :(
