Ampersand: Domains and Divine Power

I think I really like these. I'm a big fan of powering up at wills by means of feats. I never much cared for the flavor of domains, but as a collection of feats, I think they could be pretty cool and provide some interesting customization.

I was looking for clues as well, and after reading the article, my gut told me "Planescape" right away...

Did no one else get that vibe?

I got that too, but I just think it's a bad move on WotC's part. I just don't think they can really make Planescape fans happy.

Can people stop looking for clues and comment on the article :)? I actually liked it, though I want more. I kind of expected Domains to be weapon mastery-like feat trees.

I agree.

However, I am all for them trying.

After reading through the options in the "What Setting Do You Hope For?" thread... personally, I wouldn't pay for any of the other favorites. Never was that enamored of Dark Sun... its like someone mentioned...it wouldn't mesh well with the 4e rules set. Dragonlance, which I loved back in the day, has too much baggage... in the form of novels etc. And Greyhawk seems too generic-fantasy-setting to me (nothing against it) to use as a NEW SHOWCASE SETTING(tm).

Admittedly, I never played Planescape, but only read through it. I really liked the flavour, if not necessarily the actual assumptions about its position as the pinnacle of planar perception....(oooh accidental alliteration).

For me, Planescape would be an ideal setting to reboot for 4e. Doesn`t have a truckload of novels OR splats, compared to some other settings. But still interesting enough to have created a die-hard fanbase.... who will probably hate a new version :D

Ahh good times.

I liked the article.
The mechanics look nice, and I love how the domains bring more flavor to the gods and the character.

Setting Speculation: No Clue
Planes that they try to make interesting: Considering the Xorn described from MM2, maybe the Elemental Chaos?

Except the Elemental Chaos is described in the Plane Below by the Mouse, coming this december. The article says early next year, so my logic would say that it is another plane.

That's even better then... ;)

If it's a plane, related to the 2010 setting, my guess now:
Astral Sea + Planescape (or Spelljammer?)
Shadowfell + Ravenloft
