Ampersand: Domains and Divine Power

Hmm, such a simple concept: changing at-wills with feats. Yet it really has been quite a popular approach and, I must say, I quite like it.

At-wills can be quite a defining characteristic so being able to change them can really alter the flavour of the character. I really like that this is how they went with domains as, in my opinion, that's what domains are all about: setting the cleric apart from his peers.

Now I'm hanging to see the arcane powers book so that I can see what sort of at-will changes there will be for bards :)

The Domains of Dread would fall into this category. Dark Sun would not. PlaneScape would... but think they are already incorporating it into 4e.

But I personally don’t think this is the hint… I think he forgot to put on in. (or he is really evil)
Well, he's the boss of D&D, so he could well be evil... ;) But I bet there's no hint in there, either.

So Domains are god-specific versions of the Fighting Style feats. Maybe we'll see Schools as arcane versions?
hmm ... I bet you got it right. Can't wait to find out!

This is like, the fourth different type of "Modify at-wills" subsystem we've seen.

I really wish WotC would settle on one or two and go that route.

This is the same system used for the Fighting Styles previewed in an earlier article. I see them as an evolution of the "modify at-wills" styles first introduced in the Gladiator article.

I think it's the reverse. Or rather, I don't see these as the evolution.

The ones in the Gladiator/Art of the Kill article, imho, are better. The modifications to the At-Wills are better.

These seem like a devolution compared to the Gladiator ones.

Can't argue with you there. ;)

There were some others in the Acecerak issue, like - iirc - Zombie Veteran or Ghost Touched or somethingsomething.
