Ampersand: Draconians!

FireLance

Well, since the other Ampersand thread seems to be focusing on the Monster Builder, I thought I should mention that the Ampersand article also gives the stats for the Aurak draconian, a Level 8Controller (Leader) and the Sivak draconian, a Level 8 Skirmisher.

Draconians will also be making an appearance in Draconomicon: Metallic Dragons. I for one am quite keen on adding draconians into an Eberron campaign I'm planning, as part of the Shadowfang kobold-shadowtouched dragon-dragonspawn-abishai-Cult of the Dragon Below conglomerate.

I think this gives a boot to the idea that the 2010 setting would be Dragonlance.

Why put in a non-DL book arguably the core "shtick" of the setting if you are going to release a DL setting book.

Ditto.

I think it's going the Dragonborn versus draconian, one of Bahamut, the other of Tiamat.

On one hand, that's great. The drow, when sent to Forgotten Realms, made some great enemies and probably were larger in that campaign's development than in their initial setting of Greyhawk.

For the draconians, this could be a similiar boost.

Because it's the 25th anniversary of Dragonlance; and if you're going to put draconians in the core, it might as well be in the book about metallic dragons.

And I hear there are new draconian types: Adamaaz (adamantine), Ferak (iron), and Kobaaz (cobalt). I'm not sure what to think of that yet.

That is a good point.

But wouldn't that have been a better point for getting Dragonlance itself out as a setting this year?

I think it shows how WotC feels about settings...becuse it shows new can sit next to old without feeling like it had to be the same as last edtion.

It goes with the sacred hamburger theory of 4e. It shows that if there is a Dl setting it will have all the new dragons.

Think about it this way. If Dragonlance was the setting, wouldn't it make more sense to wait until the Dragonlance books come out to put draconians out there? After all, they're an iconic monster race for Dragonlance.
