I wouldn't personally consider the cat cannon or cats falling from the sky valid answers unless the cats did this of their own power. After all, this is how many cats would it take to kill a dragon, not how many cats would a PC have to use to kill a dragon.

Just one cat. But the cat is the familiar of a level 20 wizard.

Alternatively, if the cat is cute enough, the dragon takes it as a pet. Becomes devoted to the cat, and spends every moment of its life tending to the cats needs, as all obsessive creatures do with their pets. (And don't tell me dragons aren't obsessive! They orde gold don't they?!)

Pampering the cat becomes so important to the dragon that it neglects it's own upkeep. Soon it finds a few more cats, and becomes "That crazy old cat-dragon up on the hill".

Now the dragon isn't getting any dates, and it's spending a lot of time alone, and not caring for itself as well as t should, it's just a matter of time before it kicks off - having been killed by that one first cat, and its own obsessive beavior.

Then again, I could do it with one cat.
The cat is a brilliant golden color, and until recently was the pet of a local princess.
The dragon claimed "Goldie" as treasure after razing the castle.
The princesses devoted knights lay seige to the dragon, and through cunning and determination manage to slay the beast.
Another dragon brought down by a cat.

Beware of cats.

The cats could drop... Any setup allowed, the Dragon lives at the bottom of a 210' cliff - IIRC, that's far enough to reach terminal velocity in DnD?

Cats always land on their feet... does this mean extra claw damage?

Or smart cats could aid another to push boulders off the cliff. That way none of the little furballs die in the process?

So first you need enough cats to build the feline pyramid to the sky, then you need 11 cats to climb to the top and leap down upon the dragon.

That's pretty simple to accomplish...

Ah, well then you have the cats seeing the dragon far below as a small lizard and it makes perfect sense!

Does the cat wake the dragon up in the middle of the night demanding treats/food/attention/out and then run about its legs causing it to trip and fall down a precipice/flight of stairs while still half-asleep and therefore fail its reflex save?

From personal experiance it then takes exactly 1 cat.

Never put anything past a determined cat.
