D&D 4E An Olive Branch to 4e Fans: Some Things 5e Should Take From 4e

Something 5e should take from those who like 4e: at-will attacks for all classes, including weaponless classes.

If opportunity attacks remain in the game, then a class-appropriate basic attack for every class. Never again should the Wizard have to bop a monster on the head with his Tome implement requiring a 20 on the die to hit and doing irrelevant damage.

I like most, but not all of the original suggestions and I'll even throw another one in.

Simplified Monster design.

I really liked 3es notion that the whole world works by the same basic system.

But the MM got a little crazy about it. If the GM wants to make War Trolls who get a full BAB from a humanoid hit dice, then just freaking do it.

Likewise you don't actually need to track every skill point an orc spends. Assume he put most of them in "Worship Grumsh in obscene ways" and just write down 'Spot'.

Full, detailed, explict monster construction like the 3e MM used should be supported, but not demanded.

I do freaking hate normal human NPCs who get to draw from a different Box of Awesome than PCs do however.
