Anakin Pic from Episode VI

Lucasfilm reps
With the '97 version of the film, or what he feels is closer to his original vision, he couldn't accomplish [certain things] back in 1977, and people either like it, or they don't. We respect that point of view. But at the end of the day George feels very strongly about artists' rights".

So he couldn't accomplish Greedo firing first back in '77.

We know he could not get Hayden to materialize at the end of Jedi, so I will give hime that one ;).

I didn't know they were coming out in less than three weeks! I'll have to wait until Christmas

And I'll have to drink a gallon of bleach.

I swear to God in fifty years, Geroge Lucas' cryogenically preserved head will still be dinking around with those damn movies.

Han vs. Greedo shooting first is really a pretty minor point; it just makes a good rallying point for the anti-tinkering crowd. I knew it only because I read anti-lucas rants on-line, and wouldn't have noticed it on my own.

I'd be interested to know how many of you were outraged at the changing order when first viewing the edited scene, and who were only annoyed because they knew about it beforehand?

Not really; it's confusing. The first time I saw the Special Edition I couldn't tell what was supposed to be happening.

It also means Greedo is about the most incompetent bounty hunter I could have imagined. He's sitting what, three feet away from Han with his gun trained on him, and he misses him? If it were more "old west" like and Han was a quicker draw, that'd be acceptable. The way the Special Edition treated it, it was stupid and didn't make sense.

You're right, it is a bit of a rallying cry, but not by accident. It was a pretty stupid change that is significantly worse than the original scenario.

Do I want the new Extra Special Edition DVDs? Sho nuff. But I'm also thinking it's time I followed my brother's example and ripped my old VHS copies from the last printing of the original trilogy onto DVD-Rs as well. At the end of the day, I'll probably be more likely to watch those.
