Anarchic, Axiomatic, and Damage Reduction

Okay, I don't have my books on me, but I know about these templates, but I forget one thing. Do they grant damage reduction, for instance, of 10/lawful or 10/chaotic? If not, why the heck not?

I mean, now that I look at it, the half-fiend template doesn't even give 10/good. It gives 10/magic. What gives? Are they just not evil enough? Only slightly evil?

Sorry, that became a rant. I just want to slap a chaotic template and an evil template on something so that it'll have DR of 10/lawful and good. Is that so much to ask?

It has to do with the strength of the template. DR 10/lawful is much stronger than DR 10/magic, since your enemy is far more likely to have a magic weapon, or access to Magic Weapon or Greater Magic Weapon, than he is to have a lawful weapon. And the alignment templates weren't meant to be that powerful.

As to why all the templates don't have DR, the writers tried to make them somewhat unique. The Anarchic template grants Fast Healing, while none of the others do. The Axiomatic template grants Linked Minds. If they all had exactly the same properties, they'd be less fun IMO.

Eh? Isn't "Align Weapon" a second level spell?

10/lawful is different from 10/chaotic. I have no problem with the unique abilities of each, I just would also like them to have DR... but alas. I guess I can fiddle with them. Not like my players will know the difference. Thanks though!

And Magic Weapon is 1st. Plus, you're way more likely to find someone wielding magic weapons on a permanent basis than you are to find someone wielding permanently aligned weapons (pretty much by definition, since you usually need a weapon to be magical before it's permanently aligned unless you have an alignment subtype).
