Andy Serkis got screwed

Look at the dance scene they show for Chicagio(SP?) looks like they are having a grand old time.

It is Chicago ;)

And none of those people are shown in a positive light. I was hoping for a few of them to die at some point. oh well.

Well, about the whole smoking thing...

In the actor commentary of FOTR, Ian McKellan said they shot a scene in the beginning (where he first arrives in Hobbiton) where he's chewing toffee instead of smoking in an effort to show less smoking in films.

I think Hollywood is making an effort, and I see your point. But I think because of the time set in Chicago, they used all the smoking (not that I've seen it).

And I agree, that I find it disappointing that Serkis was not nominated. Honestly, I loved the speech at the end of the movie that Sam delievers, and was half-heartedly hoping he could get a nomination. Silly? Probably. But I feel a bit better knowing that the film was at least nominated for Best Pic (among other things).

The real robbery last year (IMHO) was that McKellan did not take home the Best Actor Oscar. :(

That would have been very difficult for him to do, since he wasn't nominated for Best Actor. :) He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. And you are right, he should have won it.

Ian Holm should have gotten a bes supporting nomiation for FoTR,
Hopefully they will get it when Return of the King comes out this Dec.

I'm just talking about the scene they show on TV, as you see it on TV, it makes smoking look cool. I don't have a problem with the pipe smoking in LoTR films, as it is in the backround, except for one scene.

You lost me.

But I don't see smoking in movies/tv as a problem in the first place- and no, I am not a smoker. ;)
