The thing I find funny about this episode...

Hi I'm a big powerful demon. The heros have failed to slow me down...let alone stop me. I've killed thousands on my rampage. I've called down the fires of heaven.

I'll just knock lightly on this door to see if they will let me in to start my little cerimony.

He knocked.

On the door.

Okay major spoilage but MAN what that an awesome twist. I sort of saw it coming but MAN It's STILL cool! Angelus! Working with the Beast!! Anyway can't WAIT for next week's espisode. And I think I've guessed WHY Faith comes back. She has to fight and subdue Angelus, (and also keep Connor from trying to kill Dad.) That or some reason Angelus runs amok. In any case, favorite line of tonight's espisode goes to Wes:

"Well as far as evil plans go, it doesn't suck." LOL! :)

Yeah I know that was odd but also cool. I think the reason was "I got bored kicking doors in. Think I'll knock this time." ;)

Hehehe. That was cool. Hey, the guy's got style, and what's style without a little class? :) Besides, Connor is his ally's son, why not be polite? :D

I digress...

MAN, I hate to sound like a crazed fanboy but that was some great stuff. Seems like almost every character got some good material to work with. Gunn's contribution was a little light but made sense reguarding the portals and Fred's past with them.

I am really interested to see everyone's reaction to Faith's return. I hope Gwen will still be around, that would be an interesting dynamic to have for a few eps. Cordy, Faith, Wes & Angel(us) all together again, hot dog. Add in a few peppers (read: Gwen & Connor) to the gumbo and that is some fun stuff. I'm so excited, I can barely speculate as to what will happen. ;)

I gotta admit, when two episodes ago, I was thinking, "Oh, look...another 'almost' apocalypse, in which three people get killed and two get hurt. The beings of incredible power just stride around the streets, pretty as you please, but there's never really much danger, just one big flashpoint."

Well, I certainly have to do a 180 on that one. The beast has brought about a couple of thousand deaths, and blotting out the sun sure ain't gonna stem that tide. I don't need to see the devastation...I just need people to recognize that something is happening. This FEELS like an apocalypse on the rise.

An excellent episode, and nice to see the whole 'A-team' back together again. I'm guessing that Joss is paying much more attention to both Angel and Buffy, and that's why the quality of both shows has shot up this season, for me.

But doesn't Angel have to fully lose his soul to become Angelus? I dunno, this conceopt bothers me. I thought he was always Angelus, just that he regretted his actions and recognized them as evil when he got a soul. They're treating it like he's got multiple personalities.

*sigh* And to reiterate, they realy should have used this storyline as a crossover opportunity with Buffy...

Well, they ARE two different people. Angelus is the demon, and Angel is actually the original human soul. Unless I've got it wrong, normally, when a vamp kills a human, they keep the body (and memories) of the original host, but a new demon is essentially created within the host, with a feral, amoral personality. They are, for all intents and purposes, a different being.

Angel's curse returned his soul back to his body...theoretically creating a weird (and until recently, unique) hybrid - a vampire with a soul, and thus a conscience and empathy.

The buffyverse hasn't been entirely consistent with this concept, though, so we'll see.

So last night, we got Gwen, whom I can't stand. It seems to me like they are trying to recreate their own Faith, so they don't have to rely on her good graces to show up anymore. Leather pants are not attractive, and they sure don't look functional. I don't like Faith either, so I dread the idea of both of them being around.
We got Cordy telling Angel "Get over it", followed by Super Catty Cordy Woman. More than once I wanted to smack her and say get over it. I haven't minded the changes to Cordy much on Angel...She's grown and matured and all that, but I watched a 1st season BtVS, and remembered how funny she used to be. Then I watched a 1st season Angel and she was still funny. She's not so funny anymore.
And we have the big bad, and his plot to block out the sun (Simpsons Did It!:). So far, I have been impressed with the Big Bad..He whiped some butt on the team, jacked up a law firm full of folks, and just seems to have a plan in general. Maybe blocking out the sun is only a part of a master plan, but somehow, I don't think we're going to see the consequences of this action on the rest of humanity. Pretty sure that blocking out the sun is really important to people in general, and we whould see some after effects from this. Anyway, boring, uninspired plan, hope it leads to something. On the cool side, he knocked on Connor's door.
Wow, I despise the phrase, "Jumped the shark". . .so I can only hope they do something really creative with Angelus. I'm afraid that they won't though. I worry that we will just have a bunch of people running around in leather pants. :)
So basically, up until last night, Angel has kept me hooked. Last night was well-performed, but disappointing in many ways. I hope that they do better next time. One out of what, 13, 14, isn't a bad ratio. Boy, I sure hope all of the Faith spoilers are fake.
