Angelfire is out. Even distribution?

I'm more than happy to have four more rares per set when there are EIGHT LARGE UNCOMMON FIGURES!

I was pretty happy with my case. Sword Archon, Copper Dragon, Hezrou, Stone Giant, Mounted Paladin, Ulmo Lightbringer, Phoelarch, Barbed Devil, Archmage, Mina, Chain Devil, Orc Wolf Shaman for the rares. Only thing that could have been better would have been an Ogre Mage or Trumpet Archon instead of the Phoelarch (which is a pretty crummy paint job for a rare)

Large UCs were 2x Werebear (blah), 2x Weretiger (blah), Air Elemental, Chrall, 2x Feral Minotaur (mmmm), 2x Troll Slasher (mmmmmmmm), Fiendish Dire Wolverine, and Blackscale Lizardfolk.

One thing that does make me a little sad is that the barbed devil and red slaad are rares. These are figures that I'd like to have a half-dozen of each, but it's just not feasible with them being rares.

I bouhgt 3 boosters yesterday (case is on the way) and got:

Rares

Hezrous (really wanted...not well put together...too many seams showing)
Red Slaad (excellent mini)
Orc Wolf Shaman( I'm getting tired of humanoids as rares) :(

Large Uncommons

Werebear (pretty cool)
Troll Slasher (since I am one of the lucky ones to get a Troll from Harbinger this just adds to the troll goodness)
Chraal (WTF? I suppose I could use it as a demon or something...)

Some solid ones...Some :\

Well - the move to 24 Rares from 20 has antogonized the hell out of the gamers in my group who are buying minis.

5 cases between em today - and not even one complete set - let alone 2. 6 rares short.

It was the 24 Rares that caused them to stop buying SW minis. This may have the same effect.

This appears to me to be greed;

Yes - you players should stop being so greedy about getting every miniature! ;)

Sicne it is rare for me to like more than 1/2 of the rares in any set so far (Angelfire is the highest - I think there are 11 of the 24 I 'must' have) the 24 rares really doesn't affect me. The uncommons and commons are what I am usually after and they look great in this set so far! I love the fact that I can now get a large mini in every pack too - I couldn't care less if it is 'rare' or not.

Hi,

I only ever buy a few booster packs of each new set. I bought three boosters yesterday and got two duplicate rares (hezrou). This happened to me with Aberrations and Deathknell too -- weird!

Cheers

Richard

A Hezrou is very easy to trade away though. You could get a large number of common/uncommons for it or maybe two 'lesser' rares (ie not large). Check out www.maxminis.com for more info.

Well - the two minis buyers in the group have every miniature from every set so far. They've spent the money to get em too.

And beyond that, one of them has spent dollars to acquire some figures we need for army use in the hundreds. We use miniatures a lot and having what we need to do our battles is a lot of fun for us.

But the move from 20-24 rares increases the cost of completing those 2 sets by $100+. They are not happy and I don't blame them a bit. It's guys like this who are WotC's best customers. They already chased them out of collecting SW minis. Enough is enough.

Why the outcry about 24 rares now? It was the case in Death Knell, too, and Aberrations also had more than 20 IIRC.

Buying lots of cases to complete the sets isn't the best way to go, anyway. Not with 20 rares, not with 24 rares. It would be with 12 rares.

I have completed the earlier sets, too. Will do with Angelfire as soon as I can buy them here (hopefully tomorrow)

I'd say that it is 40 tops, per Set. Buying case after case isn't the best bet. You should get two, maybe three cases, and then get the rest in the secondary markets. Two cases will give you all but about 6 of the rares (people have posted about them completing the set in two cases, the lucky bastards ;-)). You can then either trade in or buy the rest with the doubles you have - with two cases, you'll have 24 rares, so with a little luck on the dupes, you'll have decent trading material, and won't have to spend that much for the others (unless you have the bad luck to lack the expensive figures, but that's the same with 20 rares).

I thought there were upset people before, just no posts here.

With 20 or less rares it was easy enough to have dupes that people wanted to trade for with just 2 cases, thats not true with 24 rares.

I still have dupes from the last set that no one would trade for - ended up going to ebay to finish the set.

I'd say that it is 40 tops, per Set.
Thats not been the experience of those I know in my neck of the woods - $100+ is typical.
The market around here includes a large number of people who actually play the miniatures game, making some of the rares more desirable than just their rare status would indicate - if you don't happen to get those or dupes of those figures your SOL.

You don't have to collect a full set. You still get 20 rares either way even if that doesn't make up a full set. A full set is an arbitrary designation that doesn't really mean anything...except to us crazy collectors. But we're crazy. ;)

I always use eBay, or maybe the Maxminis boards to finish the set.

Around here, There aren't many people who play at all. No shops to sell singles, either (except commons/uncommons), so I'm forced to use the internet, anyway. My first choice is ebay.de, then ebay.com. I usually can get the missing rares in one place of the other for reasonable prices.
