Angelfire Preview #4

yes, but I also know AMG isn't one of those people. ;)

When it comes to paints I sure am. Ugh...especially painting on those little things. Pure evil combined with the pure evil of paints = no artistic talent on that end of things.

...besides, I can get more D&D minis for less than a metal miniature or two. :)

Really? Huh... I guess I could say if I can do it so can you but I like the idea of having an artistic talent that you don't have. So I won't. ;)

but at random... ;)

Rather than knock one set over another- just admit both series are cool and require buying.

Still shy about 15 mini's on Deathknell and with money being as it is I may be finishing it while buying Angelfire.

Anglefire is looking good.

Underdark looks great

Where are my Darksun figures?

I do have a metal jedi somewhere here.

But I like the D&D Minis. They look quite nice (especially the current ones. It is true that they didn't look too well in the beginning, but things have improved a lot), don't break easily (the blade of my Pharaun metal miniature broke off several times), come already assembled and painted (I do like to paint minis, but I don't like it so much that I'll paint'em by the dozen), are inexpensive if you buy by the booster, and, they are D&D, with D&D monsters and heroes.

Yeah, but I'm willing to bet its a human... Alot of the non-humans never got represented.

I'm glad you do. I just don't. My biggest complaint would almost have to be the lack of weight. (I'm clumsy oaf. I need something that takes alot to knock it over.)

Noone is really advocating one set over the other, Brother Shatterstone is merely bashing both sets - more or less.

Personally, I considered getting the SWM starter set, since you get Luke and Vader, but I decided against it. I know that when I start with one or two minis, it won't be long before I feel compelled to complete all sets. I cannot really afford getting both lines and all the fancy RPG books.

Sandharrow will have to be enough, unless they can sneak in more stuff by making it pseudo-general.

You would have won that one. And I wanted a human. Few if any of the species in Star Wars ever had too much appeal to me for some reason.

Glue them to a quarter ;)

The good thing with those miniatures: even if you knock them over, you won't break anything. They have "DR 10/slashing" or something.

(edit)

Another thing about them being as robust as they are: It makes it easier to store and transport them. Of the 3 characters I'm playing at the moment, I use plastic miniatures for two (one rogue which is represented by a sharn cutthroat, and a druid which is represented by a greenfang druid and accompanied by a score of beasties to use as summoneds and animal companion). I also provide minis for the other characters in all 3 games. But the third character - human fighter, using chain - is represented by a metal miniature. While I can put all those plastic minis in a box and take them to my friend's place, the chainfighter is in solitary confinement in a padded box.
