My new PC will be a cleric of neutral alignment (cleric of Grumbar from the FRCS). Clerics of neutral alignment must choose at the beginning of their 'career' whether or not their spells can be converted spontaneously to "cure" or "inflict" spells. Doing so also decides whether or not a cleric turns (destroys) or rebukes (commands) undead. Once the choice is made, it's permanent.
But here's my question: does the choice affect whether or not a neutral cleric can cast good or evil spells? Specifically, can a neutral cleric who has chosen to spontaneously convert his spells to "cure" spells cast animate dead?
The PHB only outlines that clerics cannot cast spells that oppose their alignment - but since a neutral cleric does not have a leaning either way, he should be able to cast it, right?
BUT the animate dead spell infers that the caster can rebuke/command undead, whereas a neutral cleric may not have that option. Is the solution just a judgment call? Help please.
