Another Creature Catalog query for Dragon? (Pt 2)

Gargoyle, Archer: From Dragon #223
Oard: From CM6: Where Chaos Reigns
The Archer Gargoyle reappeared in Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Three, and I think the Oard is also in Creature Catalogue (AC9).

But come to think of it, why have so few gargoyles been officially converted to 3.X? Apart from the Archer Gargoyle, there are also the Margoyle, the Grist (True Gargoyle) from Vale of the Mage, the Iron Gargoyles from Creature Catalog (DMR2), the Spouter and Stone Lion from Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume Three, and the Gargoyle of the Tors from, well, Gargoyle. I don't think any of those have reappeared in 3.X yet.

Plus the grandfather plaque, originating in the same Dragon article as the spouter, stone lion, and the archer gargoyle. I should've remembered that - I own the book.

Alzrius was not totally wrong about the one-hit wonders. All of the really cool ones have been reprinted somewhere. Oh, well. At least there's still the duckbunny (Dragon #247, or thereabouts, I think).

The grandfather plaque is one of the few gargoyles that has been updated to 3.X. It appears in the Dragon Compendium, Volume 1.

Hey guys! :)

Most of the suggestions I was going to make I now realise were in both the OD&D Immortals rules AND the Wrath of the Immortals Boxed Set.

But I think I have one...

Tuen'Rin: MC8 Outer Planes

I dare you to make the Stwinger cool. They were tiny female faeries (from one of the Monstrous Compendium supplements in 2e) that did damage to you by joyeously swinging on your beard.

Uh huh.

does White Dwarf count? i know some of those made it into the 1edADnD Fiend Folio. but there were others that didn't.

i'm not current on many of the newer edition books as i should be. but... um... can i suggest the Myyrrhm, Mist Giants, Dharzi Hunting Dogs, Clakars, Quaolnargn, Oonai, Delmains, Nihrain Horses, Vulture Lions, Vampire Trees, Pyaray Blood Red Octopus Water Women from Supplement IV Gods, Demigods & Heroes.

although, i guess some of them were updated in the 1edADnD DDG Deities & Demigods 1980. and that still leaves these others from the DDG: Byakhee, Cthuga's Flame Creature, Deep Ones, Great Race, Mi-Go, Primordial One, Clakar, Dharzi Hunting Dog, Dragons of Melnibone, Elenoin, Grahluk, Kelmain, Mist Giant, Mordagz, Myyrrhn, Nihrain Horse, Oonai, Quaolnargn, Theleb K'aarna, Vampire Trees, Vulture Lion, Astral Wolf, Behemoth, Bird of Tyaa, Cold Woman, Devourer, Nehwon Ghoul, Leviathan, Snow Serpent, Salt Spider, Water Cobra

heheh... actually, i think we've already queried on the stwinger before. i'm sure Erik Mona was nonplussed. :D but just for laughs, we'll include them on the poll and see what happens...

like i said earlier, depends on if WotC owns the copyright for that or not.

we'll take the first 5, so long as they'll work within our framework.

and keep in mind, we may not have access to things that WotC doesn't have permission to do, like Cthulhu and Elric stuff. not even sure if they have the Lankhmar license anymore.
