D&D (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

Following the ancient green dragon preview, here's a look at another iconic D&D monster from the 2025 Monster Manual!

cool stuff. Pretty long for a low CR creature!

I'm not sure I get Otherwordly Presence. Can it only sense moving creatures? If it can sense moving and non moving, what is the point of the last sentence?

Some creatures make use of the Ethereal plane to teleport. Such a creature wouldn't get the drop on a Kua-Toa

Is it just me, or does the leader guy look like a Slann Starmaster from Warhammer?

Is it just me, or does the leader guy look like Lord Kroak (the old version) from Warhammer?

Not really to me cause Kroak looks more like a Frog and these guys look more like fish.

I liked the Kuo-Toa lore from Out of the Abyss, which included that all Kuo-Toa sleep with their eyes open, and all Kuo-Toa are prone to sleep-walking, so there's something like a 30% chance that any particular Kuo-Toa you come across wandering around their village is actually asleep.

Kuo-Toa have to sleep with their eyes open, they don't have eye lids.

That might relate to a specific table in the DMG

It's possible to include a sample of loot by CR/level. A5E's Monstrous Menagerie does it wonderfully.

IIRC, they said everything that was in the 2014 MM will be in the 2025 MM. We will see of course.
