And on top of the +2 bonus to disarm and trip, you can also finesse it, important.

On your doubt: Right, they've got better critical multiplier.
Then create a feat that allows to attack at close and at reach, which has prerequisite: Weapon Focus. And the feat applies only to the polearm you have Weapon Focus with.
Sincerely I doubt this'd solve it, but just my thoughts.

For anyone reading this: Comment on the feats in the first post are still welcome.

Halfway to 2nd-level!

I still like the free bull rush idea from the first post. Knock 'em back outside to your standard reach, do the rest of your full attack, then take a 5-foot step back. Bloody brutal.
