I'm just saying, this product is a hoax. No point in anyone getting too worked up about it.

Apologies, then... though I'll truly believe it when I see it. Everybody was convinced Apple was buying Universal Music, too.

However, if it really is true:

Yep, I say no time soon.

He has to have some sort of agreement that allows him to publish on the side. If they try to fire him over this it would leave open for a massive lawsuit.

"Mature Content" isn't content for mature people; It's content used maturely.

Basically, most anything can be used in a mature manner. At best, even a good deal of the Core Material can be used in an immature, gratuitous manner (Succubus, anyone?). Two things seem to distinguish themselves as being labeled as "Mature" within the RPG market.

The first are items that uptight parents would freak out about, so the Mature label becomes a safety net (i.e., WotC can say, "It's not our fault you can't control your kid enough to keep him from buying this clearly labeled product.").

The second is that it's used for material that mature people will incorporate into their games in a manner that isn't gratuitous or silly, making their games better rather than childish forrays into "blood & boobies".

If the material's handled appropriately, as it was in BoVD, than I'm all for it. If it's another Nymphology, than don't bother. I already have enough books that I only use 2% of. However, I am hopeful. AV has proven himself a man of integrity within the RPG community; And if his credentials in the press release are truthful, than he's definately qualified for the task.

The other thread about this suggested he might have a non-compete clause in his contract or something, which would seem to be the opposite.

Heck, they could make it an issue of "creating a hostile work environment" or something an sue *him*.

Anyway, if this is true (I still have doubts, or maybe hopes), it's pretty much the dumbest thing ever. It's such perfect fodder for the Jack Chicks of the world that I simply can't believe it to be true. Oh, well...

Do you really want the dishonest, extremist, fundies like Jack Chick controling what we can and cannot do in our hobby?

The opposition of extremists who will never be satisfied no matter how much to compromise for them should never determine what you do. Its like negotiating with someone who wants you dead. No matter how far you give in you are still alive and thus they will still want more from you.
