Anubis vs. Upper_Krust (Referee: S'mon)

In THAT case, I'll be changing my action from round 7. I didn't think he could see me because he was digging the hole, and I thought he'd have to pay attention to that digging.

In that case, I'll see him notice me picking up the halberd.

Change my action for Round 7 from drinking Potion of Heroism to drinking Potion of Protection from Elements (fire). I know he has the fireball potential 'cause I've seen him use them globes, and I can still see he has more, so I know what to protect against.

The Potion will protect me from 60 fire damage, so I won't be taking any damage from the fireballs.

I'll instead drink the Potion of Heroism in Round 8, then wait out the remaining rounds of his haste from the Boots of Speed.

Xun Huo (Round 9)

Cast Endurance on myself

Xun Huo (Round 10)

Cast Cat's Grace on myself

Xun Huo (Round 11, Incisor's haste should be gone now, meaning it would take him a full 8 rounds now to dig himself out, based on what was ruled before)

The halberd is set leaning against the Wall of Force. (S'mon, check your "simontmn@ntlworld.com" e-mail before continuing!)

The Wall of Force and Improved Invisibility still have at least 10 minutes left.

Hello! :)

Okay - are you allowed to backtrack on drinking this or that potion?

Also there is already a hole big enough to allow Incisor to escape - you touched the Halberd after 5 rounds of hasted digging. The boots of speed are no longer applicable though.

Incisor feels it would be better to wait for the Wall of Force to drop; rather than risk exiting via the trough.

Incisor will be keeping a keen eye on the two fallen individuals that are still alive. Just incase anyone should try to revive or move them.

Incisor estimates from the opponents power the Wall of Force will last at least 9 minutes. After counting about 8 minutes (approx.) he drinks his Potion of Flying. He also readies himself to move as soon as the Wall of Force drops (and anticipates it could be dispelled).

Actually it's not big enough because you didn't get five hasted rounds of digging, but only two. Remember, in Round 7 when you saw me pick up the halberd, you stopped digging and waited me out.

In other words, if you kept digging, I would get the full attack in. That means you're still now 6 rounds from being able to dig your way out, because your haste is gone after Round 10.

You even said that you "wait it out" after I got there with the halberd, meaning you can't be digging during those rounds. Since you started digging on Round 6, that means you only dug for two rounds. That also means we're at an impasse at the moment after Round 12.

Battle ain't over yet though!

Hi Anubis mate! :)

Incidently Simon may need to take a breather from this for a few days (hes very busy at the moment apparently).

So if someone else for the boards wants to be intermediary, feel free to apply.

You can roll dice online here:

If no one applies I trust you to roll my dice and vice versa, what do you think Anubis?

Fair enough, but what that also means is that I still have 3 rounds left in my Boots of Speed. Since theres no sense 'waiting you out' with those still in effect.

Also this still doesn't answer the question about you changing which potion you drank - by rights I still say you should have taken 5d6 & 3d6 damage (Ref DC 13; half)

Okay, I'll give you that.

I based my previous turns on the thought (player thought, not character thought) that your character was unable to pay attention to what's going on outside the Wall of Force while digging his hole. Since the ruling was that you WERE able to pay attention, since Xun Huo can easily see what you're doing, she would have acted different.

I can do that. This battle is pretty much over anyway because I found something we all overlooked.

You have FIRE RESISTANCE 20, NOT Fire Immunity!

When you detonated the last three missiles at Lu Bu, you also hit yourself . . . AND . . .

7d6: 12 - save. 25/2 = 12 dmg
7d6: 5 - save. 16/2 = 8 dmg
5d6: 18 - save. 20/2 = 10 dmg

That gives you 30 (-20 resistance) 10 damage right there. You have 10 hp left!

When you dropped the one at Lu Bu, that wouldn't do nothing because your resistance takes it all.

When you flick the two down at Xun Huo, however . . .

5d6: 1 - fail. 21 dmg
3d6: 17 - save. 9/2 = 4 dmg

That gives you 25 (-20 resistance) 5 damage right there. You have 5 hp left!

Whatcha gonna do, brotha, when Xun Huo Mania runs wild on you!?

We could go back, but then Lu Bu would not be dead . . . Which would make a world of difference . . .

Actually you are forgetting Incisors Spell Resistance 32. None of the fireballs are able to penetrate that. :p

I dunno about that . . . I was under the impression that you can't use your SR against something you yourself use. Is there anything in the rules about that?

This is from page 82 of the DMG:

"A creature's spell resistance never interferes with its own spells, items, or abilities."

This suggests that a creature's SR does not apply to its own spells, whether the effect is positive or negative.

To be honest, I've never had to deal with this situation before in ANY game.
