Any female game masters?

My eldest daughter ran a game for us for a while when she was 13. But since then it's been pretty much back on my plate.

My wife ran an abortive Vampire chronicle for me once, and used to DM a lot back in the days of 1e prior to the release of Unearthed Arcana (they quit playing when that book of powergaming rules came out). She also ran a 3e Against The Giants campaign for us.

Jenn was our DM for about 7 years, she was the very best DM I ever played with. She was totally prepared every week, Epic storylines, and sub-storylines for all of the players. just amazing. She was an administrative assistant for a corporate mucky-muck, so she's all about the attention to detail and subverted hostility. :)

One of my first DMs was female. She was a senior and DM'd a game for my friends and me when we were freshmen at Michigan (1979-1980).

She had the original booklets, we had the AD&D PHB and somehow she made it work. She had a dungeon that went on for miles. Every campaign I've run since then has had something in it that was inspired by her dungeon.

Thanks,
Rich

Coolio! Share your experience for us newbies, too!

I will. I'm really nervous. It's my first time really DMing, and I'm teaching three (if not more, if more people join) newbies how to play. Luckly my Dad is a 1e and ADnD DM, and my Boyfriend has DM'd before. I didn't want to just use a premade world and campaign, so I'm going from scrach and a bit of ADnD stuff dad handed me. Heh heh heh...

I've generally enjoyed all the games I've played in with a female as the DM.

Stories tend to be better. The world more detailed.

did they provide any advice on running a game for the first time? it's been decades since I last ran a game and I'll be running my first one this weekend. while most of the other players have casual experience with dnd 3.5 (one's one of my DMs, too!), my SO, who hasn't played since basic d&d (before 1e!) will be joining. and I'm used to tactical/powergamers. Yikes!

The very first D&D game I ever played in was an OD&D game in the fall of 1977 at Butler University, Indianapolis Indiana. It was refereed by a woman whose name I forgot and never saw again. But she did such a good job that I was hooked!
