Any games?

I've been meaning to check True20 out. What's your take on it?

I LOVE it :D but then I really REALLY like Blue Rose also... not the setting as much and the book's art is a bit... girly BUT I think the system is really nice. It is kind of a mix of M&M and D20 3.5 so no Hit Points, you instead have Toughness saves vs. a set amount of Damage. In Blue Rose your Toughness goes up as you advance in Levels, in True20 it does NOT so a 20th level character can be killed pretty easy

Magic is pretty low-key also which I like. The only thing I am not 100% on is Skills, but that is only because I like Skill Points and putting a few on a number of different things

I am keen on running a Victorian era game. Something like an Conan Doyle, Jules Vern, Edgar Rice Burroughs type game.

I would love to play something like this. I'm pretty much a PbP n00b :D but I would really like to give it a shot.

Because d20 Past was such a crushing disappointment, I've been working on my own rules for a d20 "past" game: right now I'm wavering between a California Viejo game (swashbuckling adventure in the time of the padres and dons, a la El Zorro), or a Great Game game (intrigue between the Russian and British agents in Central Asia) in the 1870s.

There's also the Darkest Africa game (exploration in the vein of Source of the Nile) I'm running for my tabletop group right now using Mutants and Masterminds - I originally started working on this for Modern, but because I don't care for Vancian magic and I didn't want to adapt the d20 CoC magic at the time, I went with M&M. Many of the AdCs and feats went from the Africa game to the Asia game - it wouldn't be hard to adapt them once again.

It might take me a month or so, as I'm a bit busy at the moment, but I might be able to get one of these up and running on the boards, if there's interest.

Taitzu52 and Karl, you would probably be better off making a new thread for that sort of talk...

Edit: I would mind seeing something done with Blue Rose or true20 but you'll get more replies I would imagine in a thread meant for it. ;)

The great game was played in the 40s and 50s. I do not recall much being said about it past the Ciemian war.

It would depend upon the rules set... I’m not really the type to like to learn new mechanics. :o

Actually, I'm still pulling for d20 modern, as it has a complete magic system. That'd be handy for some CF action.

CF action?

(Oh sorry if my above post came across as a little harsh. I didn't really look at it before I posted it and my connection has gotten slow again so I was behind on my edit.)

I'm not sure if I really want magic... Maybe I want something more in the tradition of Alexandre Dumas, Wilbur Smith, or John Jakes. :\

Ah. Castle Falkenstien is psuedo-historical. Very well researched, and as Victorian as all get out, but it does indeed have fantasy elements. So I see your point.

But if you can get your hands on the society supplement, Come Il Faut it has some of the best Victoriana info that I've seen for roleplaying purposes.

hehehe no problems AND note I like D20 Modern and Grim Tales a lot also...

Hmm Grim Tales Castle Falkenstien... now that is something I might be able to get into and would love to play
