Any of you pine for AD&D 1/2?

No, I don't miss them.

I still own them and occasionally I will read my 1E AD&D modules for nostalgia's sake, but I really like what they have done with 3/3.5E and have no desire to play the old editions.

Player's Option was the only thing that kept me playing D&D in the 2e era. Even that was a mess and I would be loathe to play 1e/2e again even if offered. I certainly wouldn't seek it out.

Diaglo ate Vindicator's brain! :uhoh:

Okay, I'm kidding. Diaglo wouldn't have mentioned 2e. :p

Seriously, I do enjoy a lot of the fluff from older editions, but the rules suck-suck-sucked, IMO.

What I really miss from older editions is having the time, energy, and accessible players to game two or three times a week, instead of my twice-a-month-if-I'm-lucky I do now.

The game in which I currently play, is "Against the Giants/Liberation of Geoff" using 3.5e ... and I'm loving it. :)

You know, I thought I would be able to go back whenever I needed to, but over the years, 3E has managed to "reprogram" me... so much that when I tried to go back (via HackMaster, mind you, but it's very similar), I simply couldn't do it. It seemed like taking the long way around town, rather than just cruising straight down Main St. Yes, there's lots of nice scenery, but it was seemingly overcomplicated...

Given that, I can go back to OD&D anytime, since the system is simple and elegant. I actually hope the new Basic Set gives the same feeling the old ones did...

If only the modules had that "old feel". Fortunately, between Dungeon Crawl Classics and Necromancer Games, I don't have much problems with modules. :D

Don't miss it because we still play it (1e that is...didnt much care for 2e really) when we aren't playing our 3.5 campaign. :)

No, not at all; quite the opposite. But yes, there are lots of people who play the old editions, and they look happy, so good for them. :)

Never played AD&D extensively; dropped out of D&Dness just before the switch to "1st" ed. Played a couple times and determined it was not my cuppa; I was at that time utterly taken by RuneQuest, Ars Magica, and Paranoia.

So, for me, nothing to miss.

I have met several people who do miss 2e in the broad neighborhood, though, for what that is worth.

I still play AD&D2e, because I'm old-fashioned and trapped in the past. And cheap. I have a Player's Handbook for 3.5, and am fairly familiar with it, but when I DM it'll always be in 2nd Edition, unless I get really desperate. Then I'll prolly read the 3.5 handbook and fall in love with it, because I'm fickle like that.

So, yeah. I love 2nd Edition, and I'm okay with 3.5, but I'll still prefer 2e over the newer versions.

I don't miss the rules, but I sure do miss some of TSR's wonderful settings. I wish WOTC would be less greedy about licensing them out - surely, letting others use them for a relatively modest sum (and thus getting that modest sum) must be more profitable than not making any money at all from them?

God yes, the settings... I wish WOTC would collect up all the Dark Sun material from Dragon, Dungeon, and Poly and put it into a single volume with more material...

Spelljammer, though, had flavor that hasn't been seen since. It was hokey, but we had a blast... the minigame was NOT the Spelljammer we were looking for. I can wait.. I'm patient. :D
