Any "ready to run out of the box" RPG games out there?

Which most assuredly could not be run out of the box. Whether you liked it or not it was a system with very little 'in the box' support. And unexplained acronyms as well.

Heck, it actually required another game (Wilderness Survival) to play it!

As another "game in a box", I can't believe I forgot Prince Valiant. If you can find a copy on the 'net, it has something like 50 one-page scenarios. Man, was that an under-appreciated game. Best game to start beginners on, ever.

I'll second Oathbound. Each of the books has an adventure in the back that can be linked into a nice campaign, or played independently.

World's Largest Dungeon would also be a good choice if you're looking for a challenging dungeon crawl.

I'll second Worlds Largest Dungeon. At $100 its a bit of an investment, but at 2 sessions a month is a good 2 year long campaing for a typical game group. Thats a damn good return on the investment with minimal prep time.

All of the Savage Worlds campaigns are based around this very idea of a "campaign in a box".

This is the best solution yet, in my opinion. It's light, fun, and a single book gives you everything you need for the entire campaign.

LEt us not forget all the premade, and most importantly free, campaings you can Get from WoTC website, I've found them to be quite well planned and good for a quick game, Print it out at work read over it during lunch, and mke any small adjustments to it whil einthe car during rush hour on the way home or to a gaming session. All together maybe an hour of prep time needed, and that includes wading through the adventures to find one you like.
