Any word on the reactions of monte cook, chris pramas, matt sprange, necromancer games etc etc to 4e, now that they probably have rulebooks as well?

None of the people who announced they're going to switch over to publishing 4E materials are going to give you an honest (negative) opinion on it. They'd be taking money out of their own pocket.

The ones who aren't switching or are on the fence are probably going to come out and say something like "We think D&D is a great game - why, some of our best friends play D&D - but we're sticking with what's best for us as the company and for our fans for now."

It's not a huge community, and these guys aren't going to trash each other's work in the open... I wouldn't expect any statements except from those who feel comfortable saying they like it - or at least like enough of it to say something nice.

Actually, they all sequestered themselves in Morrus' attic with a month's supply of Mountain Dew and Cheezits and are busy having fun playing 4e so don't expect them to answer any time soon.

I expect you'll see a lot more reaction new week once 1) the GSL is out, and 2) people have actually had time to absorb and play the rules.

There have been a few comments, but most I think will be forthcoming in the light of the GSL.

Other than Clark at NG and Joe at Goodman Games, the answer is "TBA".

Let's see what the license (and accompanying signed agreement) says first.

Should be...interesting. :)

I for one would like to see what EN World's "big names" have to say as well. That group would include the story hour authors of the most popular 3E campaigns: Piratecat (going 4E), Sepulchrave (unknown), Destan (unknown), Wulf Ratbane (unknown), Blackdirge (unknown), and because his high level campaign set the standard for such play - Wizardru (unknwon).

In fact, when I get a moment, I may hunt down some of those (shamelessly lost) threads and ask 'em.
