Anybody Becoming a Fast Forward Lifer?

Unlikely that I'd spend that much, unless one of you wants to buy my 15 year+ collection of RPG books:) . I'd consider WOTC, Green Ronin and Malhavoc (I'm sure I just spelled that right for the first time, maybe).

Seriously, Monte/Chris, I know the paperwork would be brutal, but I'd consider $500.

edited (again, sorry FFG, I like your books): I should add I've been generally disappointed in the FFE books, but the one about flying (?cloud warrior?) looked like it might be good. I'm not sure how this company puts out bad stuff, because I could swear that I liked Jim Ward's work before.

Ack!

FFE = Fast Forward Entertainment, the people under discussion.

FFG = Fantasy Flight Games, a completely unrelated (or should I say innocent?) company.

I'd buy lifetime subscriptions to:

Fantasy Flight
Green Ronin
Atlas Games
Pelgrane Press

I think White Wolf was offering subscriptions a few years ago, where they'd just automagically send you every product they put out and debit you for the cost.

I don't know how many books they do per year or their prices, but if they did six books at $25 per book per year like you guessed, I think it would be around 13 years to break even, not three.

I'm only trying to be helpful...in case somebody was about to part with their 2K thinking 3 years ain't so long.

You scared me for a sec, I thought I messed up my math! ;-)

Actually, I said that I figured you get all stuff that seems to be under the FFE banner (FFE, Sovereign, Pinnacle and FanPro) so you divide the 13 years by 4 publishers to get just over 3 years. I could have made this clearer, but I was lazy and didnt want to count the stuff on the other sites, so I just assumed that they produced about the same amount of stuff. In any case, the real hidden caveat there is that the chances of people wanting 100% of the stuff from four publishers (the FanPro website seems to deal with Mechs?) is pretty low.

But, in any case, my numbers are extremely rough. I highly encourage anyone who is thinking of doing this deal to 1) read the press release and see exactly what you get and 2) do your own math. The Gizzard offers no warantee that information presented herein is suitable for any use whatsoever. ;-)

I also find it humorous that for FFE's gencon seminar they consider themselves one of the top three d20 companies...

by what standard?

Which publishers would people consider paying $2k to become a "Lifer"?

God... I wish I had $2K to spend on D&D/d20 just sitting around.

But if I did, here would be my choices:

Fantasy Flight Games
Wizards of the Coast
Green Ronin
MonkeyGod Enterprises (just got a copy of Tzar Rising... looks cool.)

{EDIT}

Err! I can't spell.

White Wolf. And I'd do it even if the offer didn't include their merchandise, novels, d20 RPG, etc.
That is, as long as it included all of their Storyteller system books, I'd be happy. (And I'd even be willing to do without Hunter or Changeling.)

'cause I generally buy several of these books every month on anyway - even though I don't buy every WW book that I'd like to have.

- World of Darkness and Exalted own me Darkness

PS - I'd also consider SJG (or just GURPS) or WotC (or just D&D/d20), of course. :D

Wow this one is too funny. Fast Forward Entertainment? Producers of some of the most poorly rated d20 products to date? Don't believe me check ou the EN World reviews page for them here. Or, allow me to sum it up in this fashion: Fast Forward Entertainment's company rating is an abysmal 2.52 (2 stars of 5 possible - Poor) based on 44 reviews of their products. Their highest rated product is Orcfest which earned 4 stars from two staff reviewers (Alan and Simon). They have several ratings for products in the range of 1 star - Appalling. I myself picked up one of their books. It was by James Ward (Drawmij if you're keeping score) called Treasure Quests. I knew it had terrible ratings before I picked it up, but I got it for about 70% off and figured surely there was something pilferable in there for that price, and there is, so no worries. To me, this sounds like a last gasp to try to rebound and recoup from poor sales and the loss of those books due to the use of WotC PI. Sad thing is this: Jim Ward spelled backward is Drawmij and he cannot use that name as it is WotC PI. Same with EGG and Xagyg. It seems that at least they could be given a seperate agreement from the powers that be but alas, I don;t think Hasbro cares about that sort of thing where I feel Adkison might have.

As for companies I would consider something like this for?

Wizards of the Coast (D&D/d20)
Sword and Sorcery Studios (Scarred Lands and Everquest)

I'd pay a smaller amount for:
Mystic Eye Games/Thunderhead Games
Bastion Press
Malhavoc Press (if it doesn't fall under S&SS for the imprint)
Possibly EN Publishing since I really like Ambient.
