Anyone else moving away from D20?

I've played Land of Og recently it is a very fun (and comical) game about cavemen and prehistoric role playing......your character gets to learn a finite amount of words....like bang, big, thing, water, tree, etc...and can only use the words his character actually KNOWS while speaking I character.....its very amusing when the pcs are trying to hash out a plan when one has to say "go bang bang big smelly thing" and the other forgets how to swing his club and they all end up forgetting how to get home...

i would definatly recommend it for anyone he wants a very simple, fun, and hilarious one-shot game to lighten everything up every once in a while....you can find it at rpgnow.com or www.wignutgames.com

Just a comment, on a post above: I got to see R&R II at Gen Con. It looks VERY tasty.

As I'm fairly new to d20, my players and I are still liking it, so, for a good while, at least, we'll be using d20 for D&D.

Personally, I like systems that are much more rules-light than DnD... Big Eyes Small Mouth, Over the Edge, that kind of thing.

But those games aren't popular around here.

D20's good enough.

Nope, just the opposite. d20 is becoming my own personal Borg -- all games are assimilated eventually. I can't imagine I'll ever care to play another system, frankly.

Although I like the variants better than D&D, mostly. I like CoC, I like WoT and Star Wars -- the "sacred cows" of D&D are turning me off somewhat.

not really moving away but adjusting my game. Taking the time to modify my house rules to fit the game I want to run. I think the D20 rules allow this nicely.

Mana System - (ability bonus X 2) X Caster Level = mana pool. Spell cost = Spell Level X 4

Am I reading your "Mana System" correctly? It seems ULTRA stingy! :

Let's say my 9th level Wizard with 15 INT casts his 5th level spell:

Int Bonus 2x2=4 x Caster Level 9 = 36 Mana Pool Points

Spell level 5 x 4 = 20 points!

I only have 16 points left. I can now cast a 4th level spell and that is it? Forget the other 20 spells I might be able to cast?

No wonder you are the Hand of Evil!

:D

My D&D game is rockin'. I've recently split the party in twain, as 8 is too much for one group, but 2 groups of 4 is great. Everyone's having lots of fun.

However, once this campaign is done, we might be switching over to 7th Sea or Agone. Maybe not. We'll see what everyone thinks.

I also let them store mana, so it really is not that bad, they can also use hit points for mana. I am just playing with it at this time too. :)

Nope, after 20+ years of gaming and trying almost as many systems, we are sticking with d20. Meets all of our requirements with the fewest problems.

Mr. Dyal,

I don't know who you think you are, but this hate must stop. This is my final warning to you. One more Racist remark against cows or bovines, and I will file a legal action case.

well, I'm still *playing* in a D&D3e campaign - but I'm going to end my own campaign within 3-4 months (max!). D&D3e helped me to find a couple of new players - but by now I've introduced them into my other campaigns. So in 2003 GURPS will again be our only system...
