Seems like to easiest way to stop that from happening would be to stop sending Pinkerton's to customer's houses, but that may be just me.

Why do you ask? Are you suggesting that it's challenging for WotC to not send the Pinkertons to someone's house?

It is completely irrational for people to associate the sending of pinkertons to retrieve legally purchased product with the desire to help kids with cancer.

I find using kids as PR shields to be distasteful.

"We did something nice for some kids! If you complain about anything horrible we've done, you're attacking kids now! No go back to giving us money and saying nice things about us or the hostages get it!"

They aren't protesting the charitable endeavor, they are protesting the conduct of the company behind the endeavor's recent distasteful actions at the nearest, highly public opportunity.

Nobody was like "ay, yo F them kids lmao".

Also, if you think Hasbro actually cares about these or any kids as anything other than a cynical PR move and tax write-off I have a bridge to sell you.

The theory behind jumping all over social media with protests is that it makes it likely the social media team will report back that people are furious and it also publicizes the actions the folks are angry at, in a place other customers are likely to see it.

Now, it's not clear how much those reports of social media protests matter -- we're probably years away from finding out what swayed WotC in the OGL case -- but it's not an illogical approach. It may be futile, but no one outside WotC has any way of knowing.

That said, protesting on an Extra Life post may be in poor taste, but that's up to each person to decide.

Serious response: Literally every place they are selling or marketing things.

They should be able to have their charity outings, I think; if that means they react by smokescreening themselves behind doing lots and lots of charity work, that's actually a win. Not the one I'd be aiming to obtain, but hey.

The last six months suggest that WotC isn't organized enough to intentionally release an Extra Life product in an attempt to improve their image during yet another self-inflicted crisis.

The timing is coincidental.
