D&D 5E Anyone for a Warlord Ranger hybrid?

I makes sense, if even just to reduce thread count. If you think about it, the beast master ranger's entire shtick is commanding pets around the battle field. And then you have the warlord who really just wants to command other troops around the battle field. Except other PC's don't like being told what to do, so what's left for the warlord? That's right. Commanding pets. It's the only way! :p

No joke, my backup character is a beastmaster ranger who uses the spell-less UA variant to spend superiority dice on granting attacks and intends to operate as a party healer (healer feat, herbalism kit proficiency)

He's also a kender.

Who wields two scimitars.

Because mwahahahahahahaha.

In another thread i suggested that if a ranger's is able to scout ahead, he gives a boost everyone's initiative.
Also he can boost let his allies ignore difficult terrain, and boost their hide checks.

That's some warlord stuff.

mellored, those are fine suggestions and make perfect sense. However, you need to work on your comedy. :p

I actually kind of like the idea, but on the other hand I think deep down I would prefer 50 classes that really focus on one aspect of a character rather than 12 classes with an average of 4 subclasses with 3 to 5 levels to articulate the subconcept. Obviously, if there was a Beast Master class it would probably have a lot of Warlordy type abilities when it comes to pets. I just don't think a subclass with four or five levels and some feats are really going to give the player that wants to play a Beast Master enough room to do their thing.

Of course, at the end of the day, there are going to be a lot of people screaming, "but I want to play a Ranger!" even if you give them a very Rangery Beast Master that does everything that they want. I am not sure that there is anyway around that unless you go with some kind of class grouping system that has Beast Master categorized as Ranger.
