Anyone glanced at the new Character Sheets on the WotC site?

I downloaded them out of curiosity. I'm not sure how I'll like these in play, however, I like some of the things built into it. Having a dedicated animal companion/familiar slot is useful, but somewhat wasteful for PCs without them.

You can find it here.

Well, the spell area is waste full for characters without spells. Allclasses have options that the others don't so a character sheet for all classes is going to have things certain classes don't need.

I'm going to print those out and try 'em ... though my group is cancelled for the next two weekends, so it'll be a while before I can really report any results.

I also think that when copying is done, I'll rearrange page order. I prefer Base stat page / skill page / spells page / gear page. Most intrinsic to identity info comes first, in my taste.

But usually the spell area is a dedicated sheet, that can be ignored for those without spells. Most other sections that are "wasted" are pretty limited. The familiar/animal companion is a bit more than that, to me.

Of course, I imagine most characters will find a use for it. At the very least they can probably use it for their favored mount.

Heck no! All important info should be on the first page. All of it. The biggest flaw in many sheets out there is that skills are bumped down. This has them on the 4th page?

I prefer the "classic" layout. All abilitie scores, saves, combat stuff, HP, skills on the front page. Second page for gear and feats, special abilities, exp, coin and such. Third + for spells.

My first thought when looking at the sheets was that if they were arranged and printed out two-sided on B-size paper (and folded into a single-sheet, fourpage booklet), the skill sheet would be on the 'back' of the main sheet and the other two sheets would be on the inside.

There is no single page of this one devoted to spells. I'm suprised you didn't complain about psionics or the rage section on the same page as familiar stuff. Those are a lot more rare as class abilities.

Well, I have only glanced at it and not done a detailed examination yet. However, half a page for an animal companion was pretty glaring.

Honestly, I prefer a nice customized character sheet which contains as much as needed for the character, and little else. That's the nice thing about computer generated character sheets. E-Tools even has one that includes the number of clerics turning abilities, but only when the character has that ability. In practice, however, people tend not to spend a lot of effort of the "programming" of a good character sheet.
