Anyone have D20 Cyberscape?

It looked like a normal d20 Modern Genre suppliment. Overpriced for a very slim book.

I did a cursory flip through about 8 pages before I realized I just wouldn't care, then sat down to start our Spycraft 2.0 game for the evening.

Thanks for your apathy. It really helped me determine how worthwhile the book is. My guess it could have been the most brilliantly written work of literature ever made and you probably wouldn't have cared. This is either a veiled dig at D20 modern (since you HAD to mention you're playing Spycraft 2.0) or you care nothing about Cyberware. Either way what was the point of this comment since it offers no constructive criticism of the text?

I got it yesterday at my FLGS ... here's a bit of a rundown for anyone interested:
The Intro goes into PL levels and some general advice where things fit in.
Chapter One is on general cybernetic rules including the Bionic Agent, Implant Hack & Cyberwarrior AdvClasses. There are also rules on how to distribute cybernetics for your campaign, new feats and some ideas on massive damage.
Chapter Two is a cybernetic catalog.
Chapter Three are expanded VR Net rules, including the Cybernaut AdvClass, Avatar rules, Programs and general advice on using the VR Net.
Chapter Four deals with Alternate Cybernetics, covering FX Cybernetics, Necrotic Implants, Wetware & Nanotech.
Finally, Chapter Five presents the Cyberrave campaign and includes the Cyber Raver AdvClass, as well as some new occupations, a new feat and rules on using other material with the campaign.

Overall, the book's quite solid :) I like the Cyber rules and kinda dug the expanded VR Net rules in general :D

If anyone has any specific questions, lemme know and I'll try and answer them :)

How expanded is the cybernetic catalog? I'm really hoping that they didn't rehash D20 future.

I thought the selection of cyberware in D20 future was a good start but kind of ho-hum. Is there anyway to create the Street Samurai type characters from Shadowrun?

Did they present alternate rules on the interaction of cyberware and magic use? Or alternate rules on how to have more cyberware than Con bonus +1?

Well, the catalog is about 22 pages long with about 3 items of cyberware on each page. I believe there are a few crossovers between d20 Future and Cyberscape, but it seems minimal ... like less than 10% as far as I can see.

That's the general impression of the Cyberwarrior ... the pic and feel of the AdvClass is that he's your basic Street Samurai.

Yup ... though not a ton on arcane cyberware. They do cover Golemtech, which is kind of like taking golem parts and grafting them to someone ala Cyberware. There are also notes in the Cyberrave campaign for using that with Urban Arcana. As for the expanded Cyberware installation, check out the character chapter ... there's a few variations on that :)

sounds like d20 future and d20 cyberscape is on my list of must grabs...
hmm, combo that with d20 acopalypse and some psionics from d20 modern and things start to look interesting :P

hell, maybe ill trow in some magic to just for the hell of it :D

about that cyberware. is there much in the way of social cyberware? as in stuff like video tatoos and similar that have no real use most of the time but can add flavor to the char?

Not that I've seen. But it wouldn't be too hard to make stuff like that :)

That sold me. I have always had this burning desire to do a real high magic urban punk thing, and that may be the ticket for me.

a thought just hit me. the new shadowrun system have in my view shown the future of cyberspace. basicly its augmented reality or AR. its a computer generated overlay over the real world.

so i was wondering, is there there any rules in cyberscape that covers being online while walking around in the real world?

like say, maybe suspending the activity of the avatar while getting you meat ass out of harms way?

Not that I've seen. I don't think it'd take too much to do that though. The rules for the VR Net seem a bit bendable.

That concept was previously presented in CyberGeneration nearly 10 years ago. Real nasty concept once devious players started abusing it, doing things like digging pits and covering it with a photorealistic virtual overlay, so anyone not jacked in would avoid it, but those foolish enough to travel the real world with a virtual connection running were easy pickings... Turned netrunning into pseudo-magic, too.
