Anyone have the Iron Kingdoms book? I have questions

I'm happy it's being delayed. As much as I want a copy NOW I can wait a few more weeks for a better quality product.

I know many companies that would have gone ahead and shipped the product as it was. It's important (to me) to know that these guys are willing to take the time to do it right.
Ditto. I'd be annoyed if I spent $40 for a (admittedly lust-inducing) book and opened it to find it screwed up because of printing errors.

For those that haven't seen it. There is a post on Privateer Press's website stating that this book is delayed again. They had a misprint in the books, with some pages too dark. So the reprint should be done and shipped by July 9th

But the book exsists, *I* have a copy. :)

And I did not find it dark. Some might have, but I did not.

So, one of the developers is quoted as saying "The Iron Kingdoms creators think in terms of big, bold, and brassy, and the substance and materials are always clunky, hunky, and chunky-monkey."

Did you find that to be true for the book? ;)

Really, I just couldn't resist posting that quote, which I found pretty funny. What's a quick summary of some of the "fluffy" aspects of the book so far?

I am curious about Typos and stuff that I have heard about... are the bad? easy to ingore? just wondering

If you check over at the Privateer Press boards, they've discovered a printing error, with the first 90 of 400 pages being too dark, and have ordered a hold and reprint, so the new ship date is July 9. The books that were sold at Origins apparently have the error.

I've only read about 30 pages and done some flipping thru to answer questions. In the first 30 pages I only saw one word misspelled. But in flipping thru I saw that the Ranger has the following in the class ability descriptions:

Woodland Stride (EX): IK rangers gain the woodland stride ability as per the PHB.

Evasion (EX): IK rangers gain the woodland stride ability as per the PHB, except that IK rangers gain this ability at 8th level.

Swift Tracker(EX): IK rangers gain the woodland stride ability as per the PHB, except that IK rangers gain this ability at 11th level.

Camouflage (EX): IK rangers gain the woodland stride ability as per the PHB.

Hide in Plain Sight (EX): IK rangers gain the woodland stride ability as per the PHB, except that IK rangers do not gain this ability until 18th level.

So either IK Rangers are really good at Woodland Stride or this is a mistake. :)

Doesn't bother me that much, I know they meant woodland stride to be replaced by each ability, I can look over that since it is such an amazingly beautiful book.

Looks like people were a little too liberal with the cut and paste function, something I've seen a fair amount of in roleplaying books. Still, the intent is obvious so it's not as bad as it could have been. Most annoying to be is gaps between tables and text (like the Deepwood Sniper) since it's often difficult to figure out what the writer was trying to convey.

I can wait another week for so for this book. I'm really looking forward to the world guide (fluff over crunch) in the Fall. My guess is the make-or-break year for Privateer Press is going to be 2005; it'll be a question of if they can maintain the momentum I'm sure they'll generate with their two big releases. There are a few things in the pipeline, like a 3.5 edition of the Monsternomicon, but I don't think the new fans of IK will be as generous with release dates. I think most people would be more than happy to have less support to a setting if it meant that the support that was there was of a certain caliber, but there needs to be support.
