Yes that was what inspired me to post about shields, that one was armor---see my first post .

Thanks alish2o, I will look at them, just thought it would be cool for props at cons, but do not want to spend a fortune.

I will keep looking as well.
The chainmail is cool also.

Decorative, (either wood or steel ) unless my kids get unruly
But I have zero talent to make stuff, so as cool as it sounds I think that is not an option . But thank you!

That's too bad, HAL, cuz with 2 sheets of 1/8" plywood, Woodglue, Water, a pencil, a saw, 2 two by fours, sandpaper, and a car I can show you how to make a durable and functional recurved wooden shield...
