Anyone know what's up with the WotC forums?

For days, now, every time I try to access them, I get a "technical error." It tells me to close the browser and try again, but I know it's not a browser issue, since I've used multiple browsers. :erm:

It's not 100% constant--I've been able to get through about 5% of the time--but it's certainly aggravating.

Sometimes the things we know trip one up...

It's actually a cookies issue. If you remove all Wizards cookies from your browser, you'll be able to log in again. I believe their cookies are non-persistent, so closing the browser happens to have that effect.

On the other hand, this is definitely a bug in their software.

This has been happening to me too but only if I try to access a page on the forums (e.g. the 4e character optimization board) using a url saved in address bar. I don't have this problem if I go to wizards.com and then follow the links to the forum "front page," first.

This happens to me but I assumed it had to do with the fact I log in from my work computer and my home computer.

When I go to work, it gives that error. All I do is login to my account again and it works. But then when I go home, it gives the error again. So I login to my account again and it works.

Their whole website is really annoying now. It definitely is not user friendly. It was perfectly fine before they changed it. Now I have a laundry list of problems with it. I visit their forums way less these days.

I was going to say the same thing. That all my old links were borken... but now they seem to work.

Before I read this post I'd use a saved link and get that error. Then I'd just go to wizards main DnD site and drill down with nary a problem.

Yeah. Something in their cookies is borked. The web folk have been poked, and they are working on figuring out what is happening.

In the meantime, if (when) you get the error, just click on Account (upper right-hand page) and then Community (I think) and that gets you to the forums. It is an easier way then erasing the cookies. If you never close your browser, I believe that also solves the problem.

I actually suspected it was intentional - so that you'd always have to at least SEE the index page of the website. Once I figured out that you could still get there by clicking through I just saved the front page and... clicked through since I have NO use for anything else they have on the web.

Yep. After accessing the home page once, the saved link to the forum also works fine.

I was having this problem last week--not specifically the fora, but when I entered the community through the main community landing page, which is what I have bookmarked. I never followed their advice to close my browser; usually simply reloading the page did the trick.

I haven't had the problem this week, so whatever it was seems to have "fixed itself" for me at least.

I get same issue: so I log into Whoops! Browser Settings Incompatible

Instead of the previous editions link I had and now click previous.

It was really annoying.
