Anyone know when D20 Modern/Future Might Be Out?

Has WotC released any new material for ANY d20 system game since the announcement of 4th edition, that was not already near completion of the product or "promised" to the public and consumers prior?
What does "not already near completion of the product or "promised" to the public and consumers prior" mean?

Anyway: SWSE.

Something that is new that wasn't scheduled to be released before they announced 4th edition D&D.

Star Wars is a different line of game and one of the two RPGs Greg Leeds said on the 13th that they were focusing on in the interview with the people about the WizKids thing, so I doubt that line will be scrapped.

I don't see 4E/SAGA rule being able to support the generic rule style of d20 Modern

I've gone at length on other threads about my disapointment about the 4E/SAGA version of the d20 system.

However I find that when I read the rule two things come mind; First 4E, I see MMORPGs, Fable, FF XII, any videogame that isn't D&D based. Second SAGA while fixed some things I just keep seeing Stewart from MAD TV saying "Look what can do" and "Nooo, Let me do it". Or from the halloween epsiode of Sealab 2020 w/ the Bizzaros.

maybe some insight could be gleaned by figuring out who is playing D20Modern at WotC....
By "at," you mean the folks living in Seattle near WotC HQ building, or the many fine freelanced authors they contracted (because unlike the ol' TSR days, WotC R&D can't keep a large pool of in-house RPG designers on their payroll)?

Uh... good point. 'AT' was meant in a wholly virtual sense.

Post-d20, WotC has only ever had three RPG lines: D&D, Star Wars, and d20M. d20M is the only possible game left for them to release. If they don't feel a revised d20M is worth releasing, then no new RPG line is worth releasing, and they will just focus on D&D and SWSE.

Since D&D 4e and SWSE are both d20 games, I think the question of whether WotC is committed to d20 is pretty much moot. It's their house system.

Whether they are committed to opening up 4e-era d20 to licensees with something like the OGL is a separate issue. All we know is that they have stated that they intend to release such a license. In the meantime, the OGL is irrevocable, so publishers can release 3.5-based d20 products until the sun goes dark.

I think the philosophy of d20 Modern would be interesting ... but I think it'd be better if they created more specific games rather than a generic Modern book. For example ... a new edition of Star Frontiers, Gangbusters or Top Secret would cater better to the 4e mindset with specific classes. It'd be much easier than trying to wrap everything around a book like d20M ...
