Anyone used UA's spell point variant?

To balance that variant (when using the normal rules, not a restricted spell list, for example), I can think of two approaches: . . . snip . . .

2) Whenever a character takes a level in a non-spellcasting class (all but cleric, druid, sorcerer/wizard), the character can use the Gestalt rules with another such class, but only if at least half the character level (including the new level) consists of non-spellcasting class levels. Bard (?), paladin and ranger are considered non-spellcasting classes for this purpose.

Thus you could either play a spell point wizard or a Gestalt fighter/rogue, for example.

ooh! I think I like that option. We've been having a lot of fun lately with Gestalt rules, and this sounds like it might offer a balanced way to introduce spell-point wizards.

Currently, in my game, Sorcerers, and no others, are spell-point casters. This is to compensate for various miscelaneous boosts to the Wizard class. I try really hard to encourage my players to play spell casters, but generally have a tough time of it.

The first spell-point sorcerer ever is still first level, though, and that doesn't really offer any significant difference from the standard rules. I guess we'll see.

One question about that...

The Sorcerer now gains Bonus Spells Known as the other spell using classes. He uses his Charisma score to determine how many additional spells he knows.

What does that mean?

Do they mean, that sorcerers add their Bonus Spells per Day from a high ability score also to Spells Known?
