AoO Question

I know that this has been covered a thousand times....

If you start your turn in a threatened space and just move away, there is no AoO. How about a double move?

Same as above, if you run, then there is a AoO, right?

Same start, make a 5' step away, no AoO, correct?

Same start, if you move away and then attack a different opponent do you provoke an attack from the first opponent?

What if you start in a threatened space, and you move away (out of his reach) and shoot your bow at that same oppenent, the oppenent gets the AoO, right?

Still no AoO.

Running always provokes an AoO, PHB table 8-1, p.122.

If all your movement is a 5' step it provokes no AoO.
Same start, if you move away and then attack a different opponent do you provoke an attack from the first opponent?
That provokes an AoO as you do something besides moving.

If you move more than a 5' step, yes.

Ok, how about an invisible character moving thorugh threatened spaces?
The opponent would have to make a spot check... DC20. If he spots you he can attack... though he would still suffer the miss chance due to the invisibility.

Where is that ruling at?

Not that I don't believe you but I just asked the same question in another thread about the shield spell.

Phb... Spot skill.

The Spot skill is used primarily to detect characters or creatures who are hiding. Typically, Spot is opposed by the Hide check of the creature trying not to be seen. Sometimes a creature isn’t intentionally hiding but is still difficult to see, so a successful Spot check is necessary to notice it.
A Spot check result of greater than 20 can generally let you become aware of an invisible creature near you (though you can’t actually see it).

Actually, there have been contradictory statements from the designers about this. You'll see on a page here at ENWorld ( http://66.34.111.89/Eric/3ecombat.htm ) an opinion from Ryan Dancey that opponents should get a Listen check, and then a bit further down you've got Skip Williams being quoted as those who lose Dexterity bonuses (such as against invisible foes) stop threatening spaces around them.

Personally, I've decided to go with the latter interpretation. It's just too clunky to slow down the game for a series of Spot/ Listen/ 50% miss chance/AOO checks in the middle of someone's move, and also tips off the PC that the invisible person is moving past.

Ok, I don't want to start a big discussion.

Is there a rule stated anywhere that states that a character who loses his DEX also stops threatning the area around him?

If you are flatfooted can you make AoO's?
