Well, you totally 'got' me. Had the press release been real and had Paizo coordinated their own d20 prank with WotC, that would have been a halfway decent joke. All you did was tell a lie. There wasn't much (if any) humor to it. But you did totally take me in. Kudos to you for making me look like a jackass. You've forever endeared yourself to my Ignore List.

This was the only April Fool's joke that fooled me for any length of time this year. :) I'll say it again - well played!

I'm not sure that I can say this in a way that comes off right (meaning not snarky), but I think WotC might consider that just maybe, some folks were duped by this story because of some of their recent actions. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Are there friendships between the people at WotC and Paizo? Yes. Still, when I first read about the story, I thought that it certainly could be true. A lawsuit like that could make sense in business terms or from a legal standpoint.

The idea that I would even consider that WotC would do this troubles me, but then a lot of the company's recent actions have troubled me. It is something that company reps should consider.

This was an excellent joke, but it was also a little too close for comfort for some, me included.

Sorry for the April Fool's joke, but I felt like getting someone since I was pranked by my own mother this morning. She told me she and my step dad was getting a divorce and waited until I tried to comfort her to slam me. It was effin' cold. By the way, for the people who wanted to see the press release, there was none. I changed the implied date on the web address from a previous press release to hide the joke. It's sad that people think so little of WotC to jump to the conclusion that it was either for real or that the joke originated with them.

Sorry guys. Sorry WotC. Sorry Paizo.

It was funny. Do not get people with no sense of humor get to you. But to be honest, your mother wins this. I tip my hat to her. Even if it was kinda cold ;)

Good execution, dnddays! Although, maybe not the best choice of targets in the first place. (Some jokes aren't worth the trouble they can cause.)

I look forward to next year's effort! You've got the makings of a master.

(PS: That thing your mom did? That was cold. I don't think divorce is very funny, but I guess I'm ol'-skool like that.)

The last few years of WOTC's April Fool's jokes have had a definite undercurrent of ill-will to them in my opinion. They are not humorous, but more what-I-would-like-to-say-in-reality-but-today's-April-Fool's-so-I-can-get-away-with-saying-it-and-call-it-a-joke.
Care to elaborate...?

You're right! It would be a lot funnier if this April's Fools joke was clearly labeled as such, to avoid confusion.

The real joke here is how many people took what dnddays said at face value without even going to the link. Although, to be fair, press releases tend to be boring.
