Arcana Unearthed/D&D crossbreed

I may have missed a thread on this, but it's been a while since AU came out, and I have some questions for those experienced gamers out there. I am planning to run a campaign primarily in Dark Sun, although using Underdark and the Invasion from Dungeon 100 (remember Black Spine?), but I think some of AU's classes fit better with DS than the core rule classes. Specifically, I want to use the Magister instead of the wizard/sorcerer, the Warmain (almost identical to the old Gladiator, really) in addition to the fighter, and maybe the Champion (instead of the Paladin which doesn't really work for DS anyway) and the Oathsworn (which works really good for Athasian Dwarf RPing, and replaces the monk, which I detest on principle). The catch is I still want to use the other classes, like rogues, bards, psions, clerics, druids, etc. Can the classes mix?
I know there are different XP tables, for one thing, and that the magic system is different. Does it seem possible to simply use the magister's spells slots/readied spells with the normal D&D list? I could always chuck the other casters and modify the Greenbond to replace them, but I'd really rather not. I was not a fan of the Greenbond, and I have always liked the druid and the idea of cleric domains. I think the magister in particular has a chance to make Dark Sun be more like Dark Sun, if that makes sense, but that of course would be the hardest class to shoehorn into the standard rules.

Many thank!

I'm told it works well. You should take a look over at Monte Cook's boards, and make sure you use the 3.5 classes. I'd highly suggest using the 3.5 monk's flurry, speed, and unarmed damage progressions for the Oathsworn.

Don't worry about xp table differences, they are irrelevant.

I'd suggest use the Magister (and AU magic) for all arcane classes, and use D&D for the divine casters (clerics/druids). This makes a greater separation between the two different styles of magic, and the increased flexibilty the magister gets offsets nicely the greater overall power that druid/cleric have outside their spell capability.
