obligatory mention that thorin's party was 13 dwarf fighters and one halfling rogue.
Yeah, but they needed to get their rear ends saved every encounter by either the DMPC or a blatent DM ex machina.obligatory mention that thorin's party was 13 dwarf fighters and one halfling rogue.
well, I agree it is not new, 1e already had those four classes for a balanced party. Can’t comment on what 4e got eviscerated for but I assume there were worse transgressionsMy point was that this is nothing new, but 4e got eviscerated for doing something 5e is now doing, and apparently it's great and wonderful now.
And a mage, until said mage walked out on the party in mid-adventure...obligatory mention that thorin's party was 13 dwarf fighters and one halfling rogue.
It's Middle Earth, where the legendary adventurers are heroically rescued by NPC's at almost every turn. ;-)I'm not Tolkiens biggest fan. It never appealed to me. I only barely get those references.
There were no humans in your classic party? From my memory, the classic party was a Fighter/Thief, Thief/Mage, Fighter/Cleric, and Fighter/Mage.
