Arcane Channeling plus Charge

Hi folks,

one of my players asked if it is possible to combine Arcane Channeling (Duskblade from PH2) with the Charge Attack Option.

First of all I'd say no because charge counts as a full-round attack and arcane channeling as a standart action. Thus you have not the resources to do both during your turn.

But on the other hand it is possible to draw a weapon while moving (if you have a BAB+1) for example which counts itself as a move action.
So it seems that DnD is designed on some aspects of the game to do actions which seem together be faster then the single actions itself.


Any comments on this issue?

No, for the reason you stated. You cannot cast a spell as part of a charge attack and arcane channeling, though done as part of an attack, still requires a standard action until the duskblade is 13th level. Now, at 13th level, the problem gets trickier, and it may be possible.

But on the other hand it is possible to draw a weapon while moving (if you have a BAB+1) for example which counts itself as a move action.

When you draw a weapon during a regular move, then the drawing of the weapon counts as a free action. This then becomes a case of combining a free action with a move action and is not the same example as the one with arcane channeling.
