Arcane Puissance??!??

Am I the only one who thinks this is insane? I'm talking about the Arcane Puissance (sp?) weapon enhancement found in Relics and Rituals 2. It gives an arcane spell caster plus 1 to hit for every two caster levels. This in effect, gives a wizard a bab equal to a fighter. That's not the bad part, either. A bard 10/bladesinger10 will have a base attack of +17 - with this enhancement to his long sword, it will be an effective +27!!! 7 better than a fighter 20. Is there some errata out for this?

Lots of the stuff in Relics & Rituals is severely overpowered compared to core rules. That's why the DM always gets to decide what sourcebooks to allow in his campaign.

Well, I don't have that book, but based on what you said it's only attack bonus (+ to hit), NOT BAB (so it doesn't give extra iterative attacks like a Fighter gets), and unlike Enhancement bonuses doesn't give plusses to damage, sunder, bypassing DR, etc.

Compare to Brilliant Energy (+4 cost). Against most humanoid opponents that's easily a +8 or higher to the attack rolls. Non-humanoids tend to depend even more on natural armor (see a Dragon?).

Yes, but brilliant energy doesn't bypass natural armor. That +4 enhancement is only good for bypassing the dragon's Mage Armor.

And it is always good to give one side in a comparison a good magic weapon without giving one to the other side.
