Are there too many settings out there?

Ari, I completely agree with your statements regarding that cultures and history have FAR more to do with a setting than maps, or the lack there off. This is especially true with Prestige Classes. (As well as some feats)

Btw Trainz, if you really don't want them, I'll be glad to give them a home. :)

Mouseferatu,

You make a good point. And I know it is shared by others.

I just wish gamers like me (and I Am Not Alone) would also get their needs fulfilled. With the myriad of settings out there (which is actually the OP's question :p ), not a single one has many tomn maps like the FRA used to have. And the FRA was VERY popular in it's days, so there IS a demand for such a setting.

But that call is not heeded.

WYSIWYG !

Maybe the reason such things are not being met is because while it was nice for some, not EVERYONE bought it. And thus TSR went into the red. So I believe that's the fear some people have Trainz in doing something like that for just one campaign setting...

Companies do not put less maps in their settings because they fear they won't sell. That doesn't make sense. At least not from ALL of them.

Now THIS I agree 2000 % with you.

I for one am quite ready though to do that. I have made some maps in the past. If a company wants to pay me, I'lll fill their books up to the rim with maps.

And honestly, I think PrCs should almost be restricted to campaign-specific books only. People trying to create too many "general-use" PrCs is why we have so many out there that get so much flak. A PrC is best used, IMO, to fill a particular niche in a particular setting.
...

I fully agree. The setting-specific PrCs are actually useful as they fulfill specific purposes within that setting. The generic PrCs can be useful as templates for making up one's own setting specific groups and organizations and PrC's which coincide, but I certainly don't need 25,525 generic PrC templates in order to do that job. The samples which came in the DMG are plenty (and even more than plenty in the case of 3.5.)

Bek,

I completely agree there. That's why I'm all for some of the changes in 3.5 to be able to be used in other places. (I felt maybe at most duelist, archmage and heirophant could be most easily used. The others...well decent. But not everyone HAS dragons. ;) )

Trainz, thanks for the link.
