Are these two spells good for a sorcerer?

Limited Wish is *the* 7th level spell for Sorcerers. It helps overcome their limited spell choices, and opens them up to using any 5th level spell in the game, even Cleric and Druid spells. The opportunity cost of 300 xp for a 14th level character is only 2.14% of what he needs to get to 15th level. Wish, which is only slightly better, is 27.78% of what he needs to get to 19th level from 18th. An order of magnitude more expensive to the character, albeit far more useful.

Acid Fog I can't really speak for, but almost every general purpose sorcerer should take Limited Wish. A "specialist" sorcerer, a thematic sorcerer, or one with a specific list of three 7th level spells he needs for his concept shouldn't take Limited Wish, but all others probably should.

Just my take,
Greg

Well, in my copy of the PHB (1st printing) it says:
Page 222 of PHB
"Duplicate any other spell of 4th level or lower even if it's from a prohibited school.

The SRD says

A limited wish lets the character create nearly any type of effect. A limited wish can do any of the following:

  • Duplicate any sorcerer/wizard spell of 6th level or lower, provided the spell is not from a school prohibited to the character.
  • Duplicate any other spell of 5th level or lower, provided the spell is not from a school prohibited to the character.
  • Duplicate any wizard/sorcerer spell of 5th level or lower even if it’s from a prohibited school.
  • Duplicate any other spell of 4th level or lower even if it’s from a prohibited school.
  • Undo the harmful effects of many other spells, such as geas/quest or insanity.
  • Have any other effect whose power level is in line with the above effects, such as a single creature automatically hitting on its next attack or suffering a –7 penalty on its next saving throw.

You wanted a combo....

Acid Fog
Otilukes resiliant sphere.

Stuck inside a globe of acid... and I wonder how much equipment will be left after 5 rounds of acid damage....

Which is the reason why my DM forbade me to take it. It was going to be my very first choice, but he felt that it would be too dangerous in the hands of a sorceror. I'm inclined to agree with him, but that's why I wanted it in the first place. :)
