My group claims to be the only one that ends an adventure with less wealth/magic items (and of less power) than they began..
Thieves.. Disjunctions... Sunderings...

But now I'm reaching a point were they will find more and more treasure =)

I'm running a heavily modified version of Against the Giants (actually I'm only on Part 1 but I've changed a LOT of things to make it fit my world).
There are 2 lvl 12 players (a Giant Wizard and a Duelist) and it's working out pretty fine, although they had lots of healing potions (and I mean lots) from the Cleric before beggining the adventure. If they only had a cleric it would have been easier, but the Giants are TOO tough nowadays... as they should be..

My party has figured out that anything that comes out of my head is almost certainly evil. It may provide nifty powers but it invariably turns the wielder into some sort of horrible monster who must choose between ending their own life or slaughtering innocents as the evil takes hold.

And they know that if they leave it too long, they WON'T BE ABLE to kill themselves.

Hee hee hee...

I haven't been guilty of this for quite a few years, but I'm kicking around the idea of doing so now. After worrying so much about balance, I'm ready to just give the players the keys to the candy store, then unleash the hordes on them. It should be a nice change of pace.

/hijack alert/
BTW - I'm considering using the old Giants and Descent into the Depths modules for this purpose, given how much tougher they are in 3E. Has anyone run these with the new rules? I'm curious how it went.
/end hijack/

I just finished this module a few months back. I had to cut back on the giant #s early on and I ran the party at level 11 to start. Giants don't have difficulty hitting most ACs and do BIG damage. Once the party started finding the giant slaying weapons (modified to giant bane) I was able to up the #s to the suggested. The descent and demonweb parts had to be heavily modified since they are chock full of 1-5 HD humanoids. All in all the players had fun (of course we had gone through the module bck in 1E and 2E so they felt it necessary to do it again in 3E) The 11th level party finished at 18th level.

Back on topic, since the previous post was not, I often inadvertantly give my players too much treasure. This is generally an over reaction brought on by PC whinning about not enough treasure. Of course, when I come back to reality the excess and troublesome baggage generally finds its way somewhere else (stolen) or out of commission (liches=disjunction, powerhouse mellee combatants=sunder) :]

Well, since my campaign has a lot less than the recommended encounters/level, I found myself severely lacking on the treasure...I've since remedied the situation, but my current campaign can be called stingy, since they're mostly innate magic blessings, and not magic items, so their value is doubled.

If this is a question about my sexuality, then I find it offensive. ;)

If not, then yes, somewhat I think. I've given out some nice little pretties at lower levels (I gave out a wand of wall of ice with 11 charges at 7th level, handy saved their butts a bunch of times...), but I think I'm getting stingier as they get higher and higher up.

I would say "slightly over generous". I make my players work for it, but I also make sure the power of the items they receive is balanced to what they went up against.
The party I run is currently about 21st lvl, and almost all of them have a minor artifact (low end of epic level item". None has more than one. A The two (of 9) that do not, they have a few more lesser items instead.
This party is smart, capable, and they tend to go up against CR 30's. And win.
My monsters use time stop wish and horrid wilting (the rogue killer) on a semi-regular basis. They keep coming back for more.

I'm having a frustrating time of it right now. I can't seem to get enough treasure to my players because they have no cleric and have to spend a certain percentage on potions. Some suggestions on that would be groovy.
