Well, I got it today, effectively free. I think the shop undercharged me. I bought several items. They scanned each one, told me the total and I just gave them my card. Afterwards, my brain caught up with what had happened. I checked my bag and the receipt and, sure enough, unless there was some special deal going on that I'd missed, I'd been undercharged to the tune of approximately but not exactly one D&D supplement.

The bill wasn't itemised, so I couldn't tell precisely what had happened. I just figured it was karma. On the way to the store, I'd met a charity worker and had allowed myself to be signed up to support a mental health charity (call it an investment), agreeing to pay them a serious amount of money over the next year.

I haven't yet opened the book. I've been too busy getting into Red Hand of Doom. :D

I'm still on the fench with this book, but I'd love to hear what you liked about it, Mouse :)

Me too!

Obviously as an author I'm biased in favor of the book, and I like my own writing, but I can safely say there's a lot of stuff Rodney did I really like. Dragon pacts are definitely finding their way into my games (modified to work for war mages, which is what my players currently choose over sorcerers). Variant dragon abilities I've already used. Drakken are on my list of things to whip out soon. And I may build a dragon descendant-looking character for my next PC, depending on the game.

I can not say I was terribly impressed by the book. This is not to say I dislike it, or that the book is bad, but compared to the game book I bought before it (Tome of Battle), and the book I bought after it, (the Exquisite Complete Mage), the book felt a little flat.

The Alt class features are good. The feats are interesting, though they suffer from the fact that WOTC has reprinted and revamped the Draconic Heritage feats so many times, any time I see a Draconic Heritage feat, I assume I probably already own it in some other form, even when that is not the case.

The Dragonfire adept and the PrCs, while having cool names, dont back up the cool, in deed or substance. Those I would say are the weakest part of the book.

I equate Dragon Magic to Unearthed Arcana, they are buffet books. Not everything at a buffet appeals to you, there are some items you would not touch with the proverbial 10' pool. Flipping through Dragon Magic, however, I can see that there are little items I would be willing to use right now, and probably some items I would be willing to try in the future.
