• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

Are you familiar with these obscure monsters?

For the record, the red slime is from some supplement referenced in the Arduin books called "All the World's Monsters", but I can't recall which volume. (I never had access to AtWM, any volume, so the red slime is the one of these that I am actually unfamiliar with myself.)

I have one of those All the World's Monsters packed up somewhere (some whacky critters in there!), but I believe the Red Slime might also be in one of the first three Arduin Grimoire books as well.

Phraint were totally Thri-Kreen before there were Thri-Kreen. :)

The Thoul I've seen in a basic book, but the Tarantella was new to me.

Edit: Huh? I meant to make this a poll, but... er... anyway.

It's obscure monster poll time!

Are you familiar with any of the following monsters in D&D (any edition)? (If you have heard of them enough to have an idea of what they are, you probably count as 'familiar with' them.)

Anyway- the monsters in question:

1. Tarantella
2. Deodanth
3. Phraint
4. Thoul
5. Red Slime

1 looks familiar but I can not visualize it
2 Nope
3 Nope
4 I know I have seen this critter but again can not visualize it. It was in an adventure I read (I think)
5 Nope
