You know all of these threads talking about this same topic just generates more hype for these products. Don't be surprised if it this kind of interest leads to the printing of another "revised" edition in 2005.

Cool.

Or better yet, D&D 4e.

Keep'em coming. It's called progress.

Yes. I'm a sucker for all things D&D and while I can ignore alot of supplements and setting type stuff, the hard core geek in me cannot ignore core books.

Possibly the PHB, but I might just cull the differences out of the updated SRD (if available) and compile them into a PDF instead. Probably not the DMG and almost definitely not the MM.

Yep, going to buy all three. For my entertainment dollar, its the best bang for the buck. Think about how many hours you have gamed, and divide that into $20 (or $30, depending on when you bought your books), and I think you will find you are dealing with cents per hour of entertainment.

Someone also asked why gamers like to whine and complain so much. Its a pretty universal phenomenon I have noticed over the years, and I have a theory why. Gamers tend to be smarter than your average Joe, and due to the number of rules they have to memorize and deal with, they tend to like complication and applying pre-held notions to hypothetical situations. Combine that with geek factor, a slavish adherence/loyalty to a few products or genres, and you are often left with a person who will get involved in life-or-death debates on such topics as who would win a fight between AquaMan and Underdog (or other such trivial nonsense).

Seriously people, lighten up!!! :D

Do you mean under water or on the land?

I'm looking at my Players Handbook right now and it's on it's last legs, it's about to go from a hard cover book to a small phone book. So the revised edition will be my excuse to buy a new one which will hopefully hold together for another couple of years.

I suppose what I mean by "smarter" is that most gamers tend to have decent problem solving skills, are relatively well informed on a few issues (although not all), and they tend to enjoy reading, thinking, etc in their spare time. Thats not to say that all gamers do well academically- I have known several gamers who did abysmally in school, but who I would categorize as very intelligent people. Common sense on the other hand....

And as for who would win a battle between AquaMan and Underdog, does it really matter where the fight took place? I mean, AquaMan is great in the water, but Underdog can fly, even in water- wait...dangit kenjib, you almost got me to argue a hypothetical superhero battle!!! Shame on you! :D

I'm defintely going to buy the PH, if it gathers all the errata together in one place, fixes the bard and ranger, fiddles with feats and skills, and fixes the broken spells.

I hope it will include the OA version of the Monk, which is more flexible than the PH one, the version of Wild Shape in MotW, and Wild feats and Divine feats.

I don't know about the DMG and MM. The MM doesn't sound different enought to warrant buying, and I'm not sure about the DMG.
