OK... I voted Yes. I will be purchasing them; all of them. And I guess I am having trouble understanding some people's reaction to this.

Almost three years before these books are released, the first printing of the PHB was released. In that three years since it was released, the d20 system in general and the Dungeons and Dragons "d20 Fantasy Rules" specifically have had more people mulling over them than any other RPG in history. People have debating if this class got the shaft, or that one is munchkin. People have discussed the balance of this feat against that one and if this skill is handled as well as it can be. Then you add on those things that were out-and-out mistakes. A lot of data that, no matter how long the playtest was could not have caught all of them.

Now, WotC has been slow with the release of errata sometimes -- and people have complained "I want this stuff fixed." Now WotC is fixing it all in one fell swoop, and people complain "But I don't want to have to pay for this stuff!"

I just don't understand it. I don't think I ever will.

Nope, not buying 'em. No point in the DM having the revisions and the players having the old books! (My players will certainly *not* be buying new versions so soon - and all our books are in very good condition, since we take care of them.)

But I still really don't see why I wouldn't buy these. Even though my books are still in pretty good shape. I really have to wonder how you guys are tearing your books up already! ;)

I like to read mine while I'm in the bathtub. Mr. Bubbles apparently has a highly-corrosive effective on book-bindings. :D

I'll probably by the new PHB, and the new MM. The new DMG has a lot of problems with how content is laid out.

And man o man, can we start up a petition to get WotC to stop using that stupid "scroll" format for the first page of every chapter, rendering it illegible by putting those scrawled illustrations behind the text (on a dark tan background no less)?

Sure there is. You'll have the official, clarified version to use as a reference. Maybe once they see how things have been tweaked cleaned-up, they'll stop being so damned obstinate (cheap?) and go buy new books for themselves.

I've finally decided it would be a good idea as I've only got the first 3E set that came out and I think they DO need to revise a lot in the books (and add more 2E spells :D ). But really, it'll be good as I think it's needed sometimes.

I will buy all three. I'm a big fan of clarified rules and would rather have them in an hard bound book rather than a print out FAQ.

Plus when it comes down to it, buying gaming books is probably the most efficient way to spend my entertainment dollars. Going to three movies in the theater is about 7-8 hours of entertainment, the book that costs just as much offers 100x the entertainment value.

Next year looks like a good year for gaming, expensive but good.

I'd have to say "probably". at least the PHB.

I have 3 copies of the PHB already (we always game at our house, my hubby's the GM, it's always nice to have floater PHBs for newer players who don't own the books, or to have if someone forgets theirs) but I'll only buy one of the new edition.

The DMG I'm going to say maybe until I find out more exactly what's in it. I don't need more text on how to make the campaign more memorable or anything, I've been playing long enough to know how already. huge rule clarifications, maybe.

I most probably won't buy the MM though, unless there's something fantastic in it I can't live without that hasn't been in one of the 20 or so other books I bought.

You know all of these threads talking about this same topic just generates more hype for these products. Don't be surprised if it this kind of interest leads to the printing of another "revised" edition in 2005.
